I'm definately going with at least 512megs ram. Crucial or Mushkin.

My question is, since its much cheaper to buy 1 stick of 512 than 2x 256 sticks, well then its a given I would do that. Its just that I see on some forums, not here, that some mobos dont like 1 stick of 512 but rather its best to use 2x 256???!!!!!

I hope this is not the case.

Eyes on either a Soltek sl-75DRV5 or Epox 8K3A or....or.....I dunno<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif"border=0>

Hm.. I'd stay away from Crucial if you're planning to o/c.. I think Mushkin sells are 512MB stick High Performance DDR or something.. rather pricey though.. but much cheaper than before since RAM prices are going in decline

Not sure about the mobos though.. I'm pretty sure Colin has better insight on that question than I do

Hmm... I like my Crucial PC2100 and PC2700... They overclock pretty well for me.

revvy, you need to unlock your processor, that would allow you to test how high you can get the ram.

Comixion, I'd say get 256MB modules... That is if you're into overclocking. 256MB DIMM's usually overclock better then 512MB ones. If you're not a oc'er get the 512MB, it offers more flexability.

If you're gonnan get a MB, get the Epox... It's a better board then the Soltek. You'll be using your Ti4400 with the new board right? You might be interested in these pics.

Soltek: SL-75DRV5

Epox

This is the only part of the Epox board I don't like... There's a little thing on the back of my Ti4600 that keeps hitting the DIMM locks. I circled it in red. I'm afraid I might pop it off! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>

Hope that helps!

colin, I think you talked me into it. (the Epox). plus after further review reading and such (phew)!

Plus I dont like that pic of the Soltek you got there, the placement of the IDE connectors are way too close to for my Ti4400. Doggone you Soltek.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> although you did give it good review.

As far as the VC nudging on the Dimm locks. I can handle that. Maybe file some of the card off>..whoa! J/K.
