View Full Version : Do you think...
An Alpha PAL8045 with a 45CFM Delta would cool a 72w pelt?

I'd think it would....go for it. It's not like you'll be burning up parts in my computer :-p
Haha, I burn out too may computer components already!

I was asking because I want to use better cooling for my test processor. Hopefully hit 1.95-2 GHz and be competitive in the Fastest Webmaster thing at Madonion again.

Matty....you should easily be able to get your CPU speed higher.....I have my XP 1600 running at 1800 using a FSB of 146Mhz. I'd go higher, but on hot days, it causes Windows to crash :-) I only have an aluminum heat sink.....I'm sure a copper one would solve this problem.

uh oh! and I got a Alpha Pal 8045 sitting here with a 80x80x25mm clear fan 32.5CFM ,but I wanna cool an XP2000?
Hmmm..I might just get that Screechin' Delta after all.

The Thermalright AX-7 looks good now
matty, does your CPU allow for Voltage adjustments? Also what kind of memory do you have?

Haha, Comixion, I wnat something quiet! You think the AX-7 is a better hsf then the Alpha?
matty chill out man. That's not the way you talk if you want help.

When someone asks you what type of memory you have, we're asking you what brand of ram it is. 140 MHz FSB is not really taht great. I have a hunch it's your memory holding you back.

Up the voltage to your CPU, it might help you stabilize your processor at higher speeds, try anything, just raise it.

LOL, now that I,ve removed my earplugs,

After further review C., I saw on coolpc.com the Thernalright ax-7 w/ an 80mm fan at only 28.3 dbs-airflow 32.5cfm-crystal fan w/blue LED. Doesnt say the rpm but who knows how it really cools. I'm gonna try it soon, says its ultra quiet. plus it looks cool with that Alien head laser cut grill
A nice little touch for my soon to be modded case.

i'm a sucker for eye-candy, but if she dont satisfy my cooling needs I'll just slap on another 80mm with more rpm
Haha, ya Comixion I know you love your eye candy!

Wow, that's an awesome looking fan/grill on the AX-7! It would look great in your case! Take a pic of it and post it for us when you're done!

<< An Alpha PAL8045 with a 45CFM Delta would cool a 72w pelt? >>

The answer is yes COLIN. Which processor are you going to use it for? The good thing about the 72w pelt is it can run a on regular PSU. I finally found the weakest link on my watercooling setup. The radiator that I have which is the dangerden cube is not really good at removing heat. I have a black ice extreme Rev 2. It give me 4-7 degrees above ambient temps on my slightly overclock 1800+. My vcore is about 1.8 volts. My setup is now quiet. I use a panalflow fans on both sides of the rad.
My next project is phase cooling. I am going to use an old humidifier to cool down my reservoir to even more low temps. I'll let you know when I'm done...
--spirol
Hey spirol! Long time no talk dude!

The CPU I'll be using is a XP1700+ AGOIA... I burnt out the XP2100+ by accident of course. The 1700+ does about 1.9 GHz air but I'm running about 60 degrees idle!!! Hopeing to break the 2 GHz mark.

So how high are you running now?

<< My next project is phase cooling. Wow, that's cool man! You bastards down in the US always have all the neat stuff!

Hey, remember to send me a link when you're done... I do the news posting as well.

oh yeah, will have h2o insatlled for the review, with green dye lite running through the h2o system...hopefully my cam can capture some good pics in the dark...
That is cool... Yes, please post them for us here too as well! That will be so cool!
DAmn, that arioa stepping is an excellent overclocker. I've heard 1.9 gig using air cooling. I am running my 1800 @ 1.9.. But seeing its hot and humid day at Toronto, I am back to 1.5 gig... I wasn't there at the AMD tech tour. maybe next year I will go and see the Hammer... I am looking for a t-bred in TO. just post it when u found one.

Are you sure that a 72 watt pelt can cool off a 1700+ chip?
Ya? Wow! Better then my AGOIA...

T-Bred won't be around here for a while
I doubt that the 72 watt pelt is capable of cooling it. Why not try using a 110-140 watt pelt. But then again, you can't use aircooling to cool the pelt and use a CPU psu to power it.
Hmm... What aobut pelt stacking? Doesnt' that help?
I've never tried pelt stacking. But in order to cool it, it's going to be noisy. I used my 120 watt pelt but the condensation is too much and don't have the proper equiptment for it. IT is so hot in TORONTO and freaking humid. MY ambient temp is 35-38 degrees. lol... I need airconditioning. Water cooling is the key. I have some spare rads if u need one...
Apparently pelt stacking does improve performance of the pelt on the bottom quite a bit... At least that's what some other more hardcore guys tell me.

Thanks man, but I've actually chagned my mind... I'm going Intel! I'm selling off almsot all my AMD stuff right now. Gonna experiement with Intel overclocking again and if need be, I'll use water... But we'll see how thigns go, I'm shooting for 3 GHz at least! Gonna volt mod the CPU and motherboard.

Um, whats pelt stacking.... oh ya, whats a pelt?

I like the pretty blue lights and the alien.
A Peltier is a thermal electric cooler... Basically a cold plate. It can bring your CPU temps down to sub zero if it's powerful enough. The one draw back though is the warm side requires some pretty heavy duty cooling. Air is usually out of the question because it's not good enough.

Blue lights?

wow, thats definitely extreme.

The blue lights on Comixions fan he posted... the alien one..... am I the only one who sees the blue lights????? .... someone help!

<< wow, thats definitely extreme. >>

Nah t hat's not a big deal, I know guys online who use Dry Ice and even LN2 to cool their CPU's! Granted, their stuff doesn't last very long but that's hardcore!

Ohyeah, that mod is really cool...
