Instead of buying prefab kits from retailers heres a little info on do it your self windows...

finished result...

heres how i do it...

Go to your local super-mega hardware store (here its Home Depot). pick up an 18"x24" sheet on plexiglas for around US$4. Head over to the Carpet section and get some good quality (3M) double sided tape US$3-4. Pay for your goodies, and pat your self on the back...your almost done buying stuff... Stop at the local auto store and pick up a package of auto door edge guard (chrome, black, colors, you decide ) US$4. Pick up a roll of good masking tape (i recommend 3" wide since you will be taping your side panel). Thats it head home and get ready to MOD!!!

Remove the panel from your case (duh!) and mask it off with the tape. Decide what shape you want your window to be. (for nice round corners, use the roll of tape as a guide!)

If you will be cutting a steel case, drill holes about 2-3 inches apart to assist in cutting if you are using a dremel. If you are using a jigsaw drill holes in the corners to assist in turning the blade.

Take your time in cutting it will pay off in the end. if you went the dremel route, i would suggest 'scoring' the outline all the way around with the blade first to help the blade from jumping and putting a nasty scratch in your panel.

Once you have the rough opening, file/sand the edges so they are smooth...if you do it right and take your time you can even forego the door molding for a sleeker look.

if you are going to use the door molding, its very simple to install, just push the molding onto the panel around the cut. (i noticed that the molding doesnt like sharp corners. i tends to pull away from the surface leaving an ugly gap...make those corners nice and round...)

Cut the plexi in the approximate shape of the cutout leaving 2-3 inches for the double stick tape to mount the plexi to the insde of the panel. (sorry no pic of that one...)

there you have it...custom cut window for less than US$15...
