Hello-

I'm installing WinXP Pro and noticed that after installing various programs, some icons (shortcuts) are referenced in "C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersStart MenuPrograms" (e.g., Netscape 6.2, Java, Acrobat Reader and Real) while others are placed in "C:Documents and SettingsBCarneyStart MenuPrograms" (e.g., Winamp).

(1) Anyone know why this happens; since only I use the system (not shared with others), is that the reason windows doesn't care.

(2) Yeah, I can see everything in my start menu, but what if I was sharing the system with other users and didn't want them to have access to Netscape (whatever) - if a Netscape shorcut is placed in "All Users", then all system users could see it in Start Menu and access the program?

(3) If there were multiple users on a system, it seems they could still access Netscape via Explorer and/or create a shortcut to their desktop?

(4) Alternatively, in a WinXP multiple user setup, does the Admin. user (Root user) assign "rights" to those OS features (and apps) that individual system users may access?

Guess I'm just curious about how (why) windows is setting up programs on my system.

Thanks in Advance.
