For more advanced users of Win2k/XP, you can dictate to the OS what you exactly you want your OS to run. First you must enabled Administrative Tools. To do that, right click on the status bar and select properties.

For Win2k, click on the Advanced Tab and under StartMenu Settings you should see a bunch of check boxes and there check Display Administrative Tools.

For WinXP click the Start Menu tab.

If the radio button is next to "Start Menu" click it's Cusomize button. Once you're inside go to the Advanced tab and under Start menu items, scroll down to the bottom till you reach System Administrative Tools and select Display on the All Program Menu.

If the radio button is next to the "Classic Start menu", follow the directions for the Win2k settings.

After go into the Administrative Tools folder and select Services. Here you can disable whatever services you don't use. Be warned though, if you disable the wrong services you can kill your OS! Only disalbe services you don't use! eg. IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service for WinXP if you don't have a CD-RW or don't use XP's burning software.

Reboot once you're done and you should notice quite a big speed boost from your computer, services that you don't use are no longer being loaded so you have more resources for everything.

If you do find your OS will not boot, restart and go into safe mode. There go back to the services program, enable everything and you'll be back to square one.
So you are trying to say that XP PRO is worse than win 98 win 95 and earlyer , win 2000pro is cool but to say that XP is the worst OS you have used i find hard, put it this way out of all the OSs i find Xp the most stable better featured easyer to repair has a system restore plus i ahve been using it for good while now and not a single crash.
i would not go back to an earlyier OS yes i agree it has bugs but what OS does not.

now saying all that all that i do not know what you use your computer for, maybe XP is not as good for you for certain things i have friends who prefare 98 over XP for a few things they say it is better for them not to use XP so maybe you are right but me personaly i cannot complain over using XP because it has given me lots of stability

Multiple Displays And the Problem with them

I have 3 Videos Cards ATI ALL-IN-WONNDER PRO one is a AGP and the other one is a PCI both have 8 MB of ram and TNT 2 M64 PCI 32 MB of ram . In Windows 98 both will work with TV and DVD on the master card (AGP) and the PCI as slave. When i play some games? .I had to reinstall all my drivers for the cards on all most all my game. On some days it was up to 5 x can be a pain! I do like having Multiple Displays! Now with Windows XP I cannot use It will not work with this card because the card has the same ATI Rage Pro chips set
On the cards. Only one card will work at a time (AGP) or (PCI) the master card which one I set it as master.
And no TV and DVD.
Windows 2000 Pro. Is the one that I us I have both card working PCI is master in just the BIOS. Windows 2000 is set to AGP as
Primary Display and the PCI is set as the Secondary Displays all my game will work but no TV on DVD to which TV I have to reboot with the AGP as Master the PCI now will not work. I can play DVD and TV no big deal .
It been using Multiple Displays for 3.5 to 4 years now I will not go back to just one .
It’s has it ups and downs but more up .
in my opinion windows os's go in order from best to worst as follows:
2000 pro
NT/ 98 (tied)
xp pro
xp home
ME
95 (only because it's old)
until microsoft trys to build on to 2000pro, 2000 is always going to dominate. if you play games windows 98 is by far the best. after that would be ME or 95, this is because of compatibilty
