hey ppl i was thinking. i have a pent 3 601mhz and i want to over clock it because soon im getting a new comp. but im afraid that it will melt if i dont cool it down sufficiantly. its a slot 370 i think one of the old big black ones. and i have a rage fury 32mb vc could i overclock that also? how exactly can i overclock a pc? thats still a puzzle to me and last of all whats the biggest fan i can buy so that my cpu doesnt melt when i overclock?

I have never actually o'clocked a pentium anything but most of the time you just go into the BIOS and push up the FSB and/or the clock multipliers. Depending on the specs of your board you may or may not have this option.

As soon as your hit the power button to turn on your comp, start hitting the "delete" key. It'll bring you into the system BIOS. Look around in there and you may be able to find a setting for the CPU speed. If you can turn it up, do it slowly and let your computer run a while before you do it again. Don't worry about the CPU, you won't melt it.

as for your video card.. go to <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.rageunderground.com">Rage Underground</a> and download the Rage 128 Tweaker. if you search around the forums, you'll see that there is a version 1.5 (not only the 1.3 that is posted on the site). i think this allow you to overclock (not compatible with XP or 2k, i think). also, you could use PowerStrip to do this as well.<BR><BR>maybe this will help on your overclock quest as well.... <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.thetechzone.com/articles/how_to/overclocking/index.htm">Click Me...</a>
