Honestly games today I think are too into 3D graphics. I actually like side scrolling games, they were a lot of fun as well.

Older games don't have the advantage of using graphics to dazzle their audience so they tend to focus more on teh story line (which is more important then graphics IMHO). It seems that games today have little substance, yes there are the exceptions few and far beyond.

I know myself, there hasn't been any game recently that has totally swept me off my feet on the PC anyway.

Yes the graphics aren't as nice, but the single player gameplay seems better. Multiplayer, PC wins hands down, but I would attribute that to a larger user base and more multiplayer games.

<< LOL! Nasty! Oh ************************. That used to be my faaavorite childhood game. I'm sorry I saw this thread too late cause I could've hooked you up for either MAME or a Sega Master System emulator. Could you tell me with copy of the game you have?

Man, how I miss that game <sniff>. I still have the original somewhere

I have Contra installed on my system...I still play that game, and it's harder than RTCW or any of the rogue spear games.
The best PS/PS2 game ever was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I recommend getting it for your ps/ps2 or for your pc, with an emulator of course... btw, it's side srolling. Thank god!
oops I forgot, it's KONAMI! Who else really?

The MAME version isn't exactly the original. It changes direction very early in the game and has a slightly better graphics quality to it. Well, compared to my old cart for Sega MS. But hey, what works, works.
