I just got a radeon 9700 pro 128mb and I love it!
I couldn't have had it in for more then 5 min. when my brother hit desk and messed up the power supply,I had to go out and get a new case(which I was going to get eventually), just glad the video card wasn't fried. I tested a few games then hooked up two monitors to it. It completely kicks but.

Video cards would be more bad ass if you could reach into the future by about 2 or 3 years and buy those games to play on them. I bought a GeForce 4 Ti4200 around 6 months ago, and it will be able to play virtually every game that is released in the next 2 years with no problems what so ever. For that reason I don't see why people spend $400 on video cards. Do you realize Nvidias next GPU will be released in a couple months, and totally kick the ************************ out of your card, and so on, and so on. :-) You could better spend $400 on a new Mobo, CPU, and RAM.....Just my opinion.

That is in American dollars and he bought it refurbished (someone else bought it and didn't want it for some reason..it wasn't broken..and returned it, so the company resells it as refurbished). Needless to say it works flawlessly.

I have used ATI for years but when I checked out www.fileconnect.com they had some pics of what the Nvidia NV30 can do. All I can say is if the price is right I may just have to switch and also ATI has to be scared!!!

The New nVidia cards based on the N30 are expected to be pretty bad ass. Some of the rumors suggest that they will have 128-256MB of 1000Mhz DDR. That'd be some sweat ************************.

I change my mind on the NV30 chip. I don't know if this is a rumor or what but I heard the price for the chip on card is going to be around $1000.00. This sounds like an Intel price / performance issue and that is why I do not buy Intel!!

That definetly isn't true. It should the priced the same as all other VC's when they are first released...around $399

First of all I have to apoligize for my blank responses....I was having some problems with the computer...was time to reinstall windows.... Anyway I was trying to reply to agree with shiznit...Although the 9700 puts up some very impressive benchmark scores where is the practical use for it.

where's the practical use for most "new" computer equipment?

hard core gamers are of course going to want the newest/fastest... FPS, frags, blah blah blah. regardless if it cost $400.

oh, and if you think your video card is going to handle anything that's released in the next 2/3+ years, then you obviously don't know technology very well. actually, i guess i should ask what you mean by "no problems"

edit: oh, and what's the difference between a nVidia card selling for $400, and an ATI selling for $400? didn't you say it's pointless to spend that kind of money on a video card?
