Is it possible to assign IRQs in Win2K like you can in Win98SE, so far I have not succeeded in doing it, even disabling both my serial ports which freed up IRQs 3&4, but Win2K still puts my Graphics, Sound, Lan and whatever on IRQ11, the system still operates which to me is amazing, Win98SE would have given up long ago. Any Suggestions from the Knowledgeable Win2K Crowd. Thanks SLL

This might explain why you can't change IRQ's in 2k
2k/irq

your PC is setup (in the BIOS) as ACPI. go here to find out what that's all about. there is a way to "disable" all the ACPI devices, then have windows set them back up. however, with something like this, it's probably better to just re-install windows, with ACPI disabled in your BIOS. then again, you have to setup up Win2K a little differently also.

During the first phase of Setup, at the "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration" screen, press the F7 key. This forces Setup to install a non-ACPI hardware abstraction layer (HAL).

During the first phase of Setup, at the "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration" screen, press the F5 key. This allows you to manually select a non-ACPI HAL (See the table below to select the appropriate HAL.)

if it's something that you REALLY need to do, you can find all the info you need from a google search (or from me ).

hope this helps...
