View Full Version : Abit Kr7a-Raid and Athlon XP 2400+?
Does anybody know if the Athlon XP 2400+ will work on the KR7A-RAID!!! I have the newest bios upgrade that seems all it did was update the RAID bios. There site says 2200+ but on the page it says it will support future CPU's w/ 266FSB. The multiplier setting goes to "> 13." If anybody knows please let me know. Thanks

check AMD's website...they have a list of all motherboards that currently support the XP2400 and 2600
I have looked on abit.com.tw and all I find is revision B5..the one i have!! I have looked all over the internet. I find Vold Mods and Unlocked processors but nothing about if the 2400+ will work with the board.

I checked the AMD website and no Abit motherboards have been certified to run with the Athlon XP 2400. I'm sure all you need is a BIOS update and everything should work fine. Did you check the Abit website to see if they had a new BIOS update? If they don't, which would surprise me, I'm sure they will soon. You could always email them.
If it supports the 2200XP+ the chances are it will support the 2400XP+ but it will be called a 2200XP+ but run at the speed of the 2400XP+. Make sure you have good ram 'cos my friend had generic RAM and it ran slow but as soon as he got some Samsung RAM it worked fine.
Thanks Iceman. Now I know I started off with 2400+ but do you think the samething would happen if I went to 2600+(registering as a 2200+ but actually running at it's registered speed with good memory)! I know there isn't a huge difference between the 2 but since it is the last of the 266FSB Skt462 Athlon's then why the hell not go with it.

Save $100 and go with the 2400. There is virtually no performance improvement of the 2600 over the 2400. They overclock to basically the same speeds anyways. Save your money for the Hammer!!!
After checking the prices between the 2 I am going to go with the 2400+. Thanks guys for help. Much appreciated.

Excellent choice....My Athlon XP 2400 runs circles around those Intel Machines

More circles that an Intel Machine could compute
