Over last week end my gf had a party. Someone at this party changed her password and reset the computer. She was the admin, or at least she thinks she got the computer from her fathers work, so neither of us know. Do any of you know how to bypass all passwords in WINXP pro to fix this. Because there is now way we can find out what the password was changed to... she has no OS disk or any software because it was an office workstation so without passing the login screen there is nothing we can do, any help would be awsome thanks everyone that posts in advance.
If it was formated as fat 32 you should be able to delete the SAM file. On my win2k system it's in winnt/system32/config. It's just called SAM with no extension. Boot with a dos boot disk to do it. This should reset the login to administrator with a password of password. If it's NTFS you could try to boot up Safe Mode command prompt and hope it doesn't ask for a password. Then delete the SAM file.
One of the first things I do is create another account for myself with admin privileges. That way if it gets messed up I can log in using the admin account to fix things up.

Speaking of girlfriends having issues with Windows XP...

My girlfriend is a little troubled when it comes to computers, she certainly knows more than a lot of people; however, a few months back she changed her password and forgot it... She told me about it, but she neglected to let me tool with it before listening to her [retarded] brother. "Reformat the computer, it's the only way!" ...There goes 1500 MP3s....
