Appreciate the feedback and suggestions. The hard drives are working perfectly and are being detected within the BIOS on both the regular IDE channels and the RAID controllers. I tried the suggestion about removing the jumpers completely but still got the same ERROR message about not having enough disks to create an array. So there must be a problem with the RAID controller (or something else on the mobo). Still waiting to hear back from ABIT and the place I bought the board from. In the meantime, I have two 80GB drives on one IDE channels (one Master, one Slave). Will keep it this way until I find out about my problem.

Thanks!

H.

Hello,

I have an ABIT KX7-333R mobo and two Western Digital 80GB (8MB buffer) hard drives. I looked over the mobo manual and followed all directions. I also made sure that all jumper settings were correct on the hard drives. I am trying to create a RAID 0 array. Each drive is jumpered as SINGLE and each is connected to a separate RAID controller (IDE 3 and IDE 4) on the mobo. I can perform all funtions within the BIOS Set-up menus but when it comes to the point for me to select CREATE ARRAY, I keep getting an Error message saying I do not have enough drives. I have tried various configuations and nothing works.

Anyone out there with this motherboard and a working RAID array that can help me out? I have also contacted ABIT but to no avail.

Thanks!

H.
When I had the 2 40GB WD setup for raid I removed both jumpers. On any raid system I have removed both jumpers just because since they are on seperate cables most modern drives and detect that they are the master so that is why I removed the jumpers. Have you tried both drives seperately to see if they are detected by your system? If they both work and the jumper thing and configuration doesn't work I guess ABit is going to be your only choose on how to find an answer.

I've never used, or set up a RAID system.....too many headaches :-)

Did you check to make sure that all IDE ports are enabled in the BIOS? Like Juan said, remove the jumpers so they auto-detect. Do both of these HD's work? Did you test them out by themselves? Do all the IDE ports work? Did you hook power up to both of the HD's before you turned on the system? (simple things can get ya).

Just a few ideas to look into, but like I said, I know nothing about RAID.
