I'll keep this simple. best motherboard for an AMD chip, no sound onboard, no graphics. Want to overclock madly and enjoy. The AMD chip and Athlon XP that overclocks madly. Thanks.

Best AMD Chipset out there right now: nForce 2<BR>Best AMD Chipset on a performace/price ration: VIA KT333<BR>Motherboard without sound: Hard to find, just get it, disable it, and use your soundcard<BR>Overclocking AMD CPU: Athlon XP 2400, or XP 1800. <BR>Best Motherboard: Search online. They all have their own pro's and cons. It's up to you to decide. If there was one clear cut winner, everyone would have it.

Whats a good Mobo for the P4 2.4GHz?<BR>I'm trying to put a computer together for a mate and he wants to go Intel.<BR>Also what is the best RAM to use, as I hear the P4s are RAM hungry -->is RDRAM PC-800 any good?

Does your friend realize that the Athlon XP 2400 is $40 cheaper than the P4 2.4Ghz??? If he still wishes to go with Intel, that is his problem. Unfortunately computer components ain't as cheep down here<BR>for example XP 2400+ is AUD$389.00 thats around US$219.00<BR>So there is a difference of US$59.00 or AUD$104.00 just for the CPU<BR><BR>I've been given a budget of AUD$1,700.00 ---> US$960.50<BR>And it has to include 17inch monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, printer, windows XP & Anti virus.<BR>So I'll put the suggestion of getting an Athlon to them.<BR><BR>EDIT: Thanks <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

If your looking for a total system price of $960 then AMD is the way to go. In the event that he chooses Intel, he should go with DDR as Rambus will eat his budget up. Also being as how CPU's are so far ahead of software, choose a cheeper CPU (maybe a 2000). Hey Shiznit cheers for the help. But these ppl I was trying to help are to Indecisive.<BR>So they're going for one of those package deals.<BR>I ask them for the specs and they tell me you get this, you get that, you get six moth internet connection<BR>nothin to do wit performance just software and more software.<BR>But thats their choice. They also tell me it has an Intel 2.2Ghz so I ask, "is It a P4 or Celeron?"<BR>"Its an Intel" was their answer. Personally I think it's a big con coz all they're buying is software.<BR><BR>But thanks anyway
