Ok guys I got my cpu Athlon 1,3 ghz. I have a geforce2 card and would like to overclock it a bit to improve performance. The card has a heatsink atched to it but I have put enough coolers all around the case. Please suggest how much shold I try to overclock it by not frying the card.

Hey game_freak... Go to Guru3d and get yourself RivaTuner. Go to the hardware overclocking options and from there you can overclock your videocard.

The entire GeForce2 line of cards are all memory bandwidth limited so you'd get your biggest performance improvements if you raise your memory speed. GPU overclocking will not get you much more.

Which GeForce2 do you have?

I've got Rivatuner and tried to overclock it a bit. You know, you can oveclock it until 100% but by then the card is fried. I have geforce2 mx400. How much should I overclock it?

Overclock until you get instability. I find I can run 3DMark 2001 SE for hours w/ no stability problems, but as soon as I start up UT2003 the game freezes and does all sorts of odd things. Then I have to clock my GPU down to 300Mhz (Ti4600 Baby!!!) to play with stabilty.

Hey game_freak! Just go slowly, raise both the core and memory speed slowly. Do you happen to know what ns rating your memory has?

Of the few MX400's I have played with, the cores usually overclock pretty well, most can hit 210-220 MHz easily. With the memory, it all depends on what type of memory you have. Just keep raising it till you start to see artifacts, it looks like snow if you overclock your memory a bit too much. Like Shiznit suggests, use several different programs to test. Run a bit of 3DMark, then start up your favorite gams to see if you get any abnormalities.

heh, well using powerstrip, i can overclock my mx200 to 230 core, and 215 memory....pretty good for a VERY VERY old card...

just to say, it's a powercolor, i only added a 60mm fan to it...no ramsinks....I'm pretty sure a mx400 can clock even better
