OK I have returned my FRIED 2600 . And now my pc store tells me there has ben a recall on them and I now have in store credit. It all sounds fishy I can't see any new's on the web about AMD ReCalls . I emailed AMD 24 hrs ago no reply .
Hey IOU!

Just to let the other forums know, AMD mislabelled a bunch of 266 MHz based AthlonXP T-Bred B's as 333 MHz parts. Obviously this is a problem so they issued a silent recall of all the affected processors. If you have one of the mislabelled CPU's, you're suppose to them back to your retailer.

IOU, how did you kill your XP2600+?

Well to tell you the truth , I do not know . I"m thinking the heatsink was not doing its job or the chip was defective . All I know is I got as far as the A7N8X fancy post screen and it stopped . That screen now scares me on boot up . DDR 400 shouldn't affect this board should it ?

To be honest I'm not a big PCMark fan because I don't know how the benchmark runs (and my test rig doesn't really score that well). I'm more into 3DMark myself.

My current PCMark benchmarks:

CPU - 5897
MEM - 3942
HD - 980

I did that with a few apps (including this window) open....I'll run the benchmark sometime with everything closed to see if I can get any higher

Score Updates w/ No programs running:

CPU - 5898
MEM - 3970
HD - 1000

Where are your scores Colin.....this is clearly a benchmark Intel Dominates at!!!! Show us what you've got.

I don't remember exactly but I think I score like 8k something in CPU and 5k something in memory...

Intel Wh0re! I saw the review of the Dual Xeon board on the PCStats homepage and I must say, One Intel CPU is bad enough, do you really need two?

Colin

Haha!

It's a workstation or low end server board, so ya, two CPU's is really helpful.

LOL, man when I was an AMD b1tch you should have seen some of the e-mail's I get... I guess I can never win.

If you had 2 HT CPUs in that system I would assume it would see 4 Processors. I know WinXP can support 2, what about the other 2?

Colin

Luckily WinXP Professional differentiate between physical and logical processors so you don't have to worry about maxing out your processor license!

Okay, I was just wondering. Now with Intels use of HT, software programs will soon be written to take advantage of dual proc. systems. This will hopefully allow Dual systems to show a noticable performance difference between single proc systems.

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Yes, that's true... With more ppl jumping on the HT bandwagon, performance for regular dual CPU based systems should definitely improve as well!

Hmm... IOU, those numbers seem very low honestly. In fact, your CPU marks are quite a bit lower then what I got when I tested the XP 2700+. I hope it's just due to all those other app's open!

Colin

I would expect to see about 1000 points higher at least honestly.

Try running it again but this time wihtout all the other stuff loaded.
