View Full Version : Start up windows in Win2000
Hey guys, I just got windows 2000, and when I start up the computer, or log onto a different user, my ATI folder comes up. Is there anyway I can stop it from coming up everytime? Also, when I open up program files, I always have to click on show files to see everything, can I disable that, and just have it show the files right away? And just for Colin, GO SENS! Even though they're gonna fold or move soon
Hey Ed!

<< And just for Colin, GO SENS! >>

Bah, just for that I shouldn't answer your question!

You're talking about the help window that pops up when you first load your computer right? If you scroll down the main index of the help screen to the bottom, there should be a check box that says "Load at Startup" uncheck that. It shouldn't load up at startup anymore.

As for the 2nd part of your question, I'm don't know so I won't be able to help you there sorry.
Actually, I mean the folder Crogram Files/ATI folder, the one containing ATIDESK, GART, INSTALL, and SUPPORT. I have a Radeon 8500LE 128 meg.
LOL!!! OH! Haha, now I feel like an idiot!

Hmm... What is in your startup folder? If there's nothing there you may have to do some registry tweaking... If you're willing, I can tell you where to look...
Uh, which is the startup folder? (where is it?) I could do some registry stuff.....as long as there is no risk in killing my computer.
Ed, back up your registry first before you delete anything.

If you go to start then programs, there should be a startup folder...

If there's nothing there, follow this path in your registry...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Run. Inside there is everything that's loading up at startup. Remove whatever you think is causing that folder to open up when you first load your computer.
Well, the only things in the startup folder are Zone alarm and Microsoft office. Okay, how do I get into the registry to type all that stuff? this is the first time I've messed around with a registry
I got three folders: IMAIL, MAPI, and MSFS. Got any clue to what those are?

Forget that, I just figured to open the folder, not the files within . I think the file is some AtiPTA thing, I'll try it out.
Ed congrat's dude! You my friend are now a geek after having done some registry editing!

Honestly I'm not sure what those 3 folders do sorry.
