<< I'm use to giving up food for my computer parts. >>

I would do it too if I really wanted something, but right now it aint too important, I've gone without lots of things (like a good vcard, im stuck with radeon 9000 64mb - its a decent card though). Maybe one day Ill get Abit NF7-S supports the Barton, by the time i get it it'll be antique.
<< Haha, you got a nice rig, don't worry about it! >>

You call duron 900, 256mb sdram with a r9000 is a nice rig...well not for gaming, for newer games... i gonna upgrade the old beast one day, im thinking of getting ddr ram (id have to get a new mobo), but I think of it this way, if i upgrade and get rid of my sdram, I can smash the sdram....always wanted (since this morning) to see how many peices it would smash in?

<< The Radeon 9000 is a perfectly fine videocard Polykranopalous >>

yeah itll due for a bit, until i decide to buy a new one

<< for an e-machine >>

im gonna have to smack u in a minute, and theres a reason....

For like 3 years I had a friggen emachine... it was a 500mhz (i think PI), 64mb ram, a 4mb cheap vcard, 20gig hd (dont know what brand)....Anyway about a year and 4months ago I got sick of playin games on that slow peice of sh!t so i bough my own (mine is the duron 900) and than just a few months ago the video went on the Emachine...I talked my mom in getting a new computer instead of repairing it.... To replace the e-machine i got a Duron 1.3, 256mb sdram, 64mb card (cheap kind), 20gig hd and also I got mine which is what I play all my games on, but its not on the internet.

Yes you could say I was teased by mostly compsnake for having that emachine in my house. I kept the case/mobo and anything else in that emachine, for one day I plan on smashing it

What motherboard do you have in your Duron system? Do you know you can buy an Athlon XP 1800 for like sixty bucks and it'll make your system perform a whole lot better.

<< Do you know you can buy an Athlon XP 1800 for like sixty bucks and it'll make your system perform a whole lot better. >>

of coarse i know that...i just gotta find out what my mobo can take...in the book it says it uses Athlon/Duron processors....On the book it says M810 series or something like that... i am planning on buying xp1800 or whatever they baord can handle

yeah I just bought an Athlon xp 1700 for almost exactly 100 bucks ($100.05) Canadian with tax all I need is some ddr ram now...

Colin

Polykranopalous you really need to overclock your processor dude!

<< M810 >>

That sounds like a PC Chips/Houston/PC Wave mobo... Does your motherboard look like any of these? If so, your mobo is using the SiS730 chipset and it should support the Palomin XP's for sure... T-Bred's I don't know.

<< yeah I just bought an Athlon xp 1700 for almost exactly 100 bucks ($100.05) Canadian with tax >>

Hey Canadian-Guy! Welcome to PCStats!

Nice! That chip should be a pretty good overclocker as well1

If you do have a PC Chips/Houston/PC Mobo and you try to overclock your going to reduce the life expectancy of your board from a year to a few weeks. In all seriousness your board should support the Athlon XP, but it isn't the kind of hardware I'd overclock on.

But then again, if it breaks it's a good excuse for Polykranopalous's folks to buy him a new board!

Polykranopalous do you happen to know what chipset your board uses?

Polykranopalous
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Yes, actually I do, let me double check it with the manual, if i can find it.......o gee the book is beside me... it uses the T-Bird chipset

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Polykranopalous, there is no such thing as T-Bird chipset... Your board is a budget board, I'd expect it would use maybe the SiS 730 or VIA KM144 or something like that.

Polykranopalous

<< there is no such thing as T-Bird chipset >>

Oh so now you calling me a liar? its quiet alright, i can take a little abuse here and there, you just watch your back! j/k

Well in the book, i scanned it quickly and it said "The mainboard uses the T-bird chipset with intergrated....blah blah. So i assumed that, but o well.

<< Your board is a budget board, I'd expect it would use maybe the SiS 730 or VIA KM144 or something like that. >>

(Gee first you critisize that im a liar, now you make fun of my board calling it a "budget board", what next? j/k)Yeah its a very cheap ************************ty board, thats why I have nothing wrong with getting a new mobo, but this time Ill be smart(well the pc was pre-built and back in those days I didnt know jack************************) and get an average board maybe around $170cdn

Did you download SiSoft Sandra? If you load it up, go to Mainboard Information and then scroll down to chipset. What does it say there?

06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Oh yeah I forgot about that program, even though i was in it last night, its pretty helpful..it says:
Model - unknown
im gonna shove Sandra(sounds like a strippers name) on a cd and try on my computer....it tooo says unknown, damn you Sandra!!! back out on the streets you go until you can provide me with a better service

Polykranopalous haha, you're hilarious dude!

Oh well, that sucks. I'm very surprised Sandra was not even able to the chipset!
<< Polykranopalous haha, you're hilarious dude! >>

it shocks me too, maybe its some kind of gift... theres only one way to find out, but..im too lazy to find out.
Maybe Sandra doesn't like cheap chipsets? damn it...o well than that means when i upgrade my computer I'll have the sdram and mobo to smash - smashing stuff is a lot funnier than selling it for money, it provides people with hours of good ol' entertainment.
Im gonna go and fool around with Sandra and see if I can get her to talk (tell me chipset)

Yeah i know.... I didn't think forcing her in my drunk with that gag on was a good idea, so I had to kill her to fit her in (she kept squirming)....You know it's pretty difficult to get a 400 pound chick in the trunk of your car these days.
