There are three DIMM slots for a maximum of 3 GB of PC1600/2100/2700/3200* (* there is no JEDEC PC3200 standard) memory, but since the NF2 is able to take advantage of dual channel DDR, you'll really just want to populate the first two slots with identical memory types/sizes.

well thats total rubbish as far as the ram slots

you need one in single slot on its own 3 ,then one in either of the pair 1,2

way your doing it does not give twin bank

did you test the msi the same

you can pm me here
http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/

or here
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/index.

well i guess you did
http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1317

To take advantage of the nForce2's dual channel memory you can only have two DIMM's installed in the first two DIMM slots.

if you used 1,2 then wrong try all your tests again my friend

a rescent post just turned up at msi forums were im a moderator

dual channel

pcstats.com has a review of the MSI K7N2 and states that in order to utilize the dual channel you must be loaded in first two slots,
I ran a quick test using 3Dmark2001 SE first with 2 ddr loaded in slots 1 and 3 12050 marks(stock all)
slots 1 and 2 11970 marks(stock)
I ran the test twice each(same results)
I replaced memory back in slots 1 and 3

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/viewthread.php?threadid=10795&boardid=14&styleid=&page=1#7

Well the ram needs to be placed in DIMM slot 1 and 2, on the epox 8rda+ the slots go in the order of 2, 3, 1. There is a space between 3 and 1. Helps keep ram nice and cool. According to the mobo manual 2 and 3 share the same memory bus, and if your using 2 sticks of ram, and place them in 2 and 3, your running in 64-bit mode, but if you place the ram in 1 and either 2 or 3, ur running in 128-bit mode because slot 1 has its own memory bus. Slots 2 and 3 are considered bank 1, while slot 1 is considered bank 0. My K7N2 doesn't support dual DDR i dont think, atleast there is no evidence in the mobo manual, or on the box, and its slots go in normal order of 1,2,3. I know what i explained here was pretty much what wonkanoby said, but i figured i'd confirm it strait out of the mobo manual.
