Videocard Hype???

You guys probably have been around this long enough that you don't even notice anylonger, but the gossip and rumors about the GeforceFX are really bordering on crazy, IMHO. It would seem to me nVidia would have nothing to lose by at least letting people know what is going on. When final cards are ready, how many different versions of the FX there will be........ Competition can't be that stiff that simple info like that Ati or Matrox could use to gain some kind of advantage. <BR><BR>This isn't a rant.....it's more of the past weeks observations around some hardware sites. Gossip,rumor, and flaming abound........<BR><BR>Later.......

Video card compitition can be pretty stiff because your company (ati,nvidia,matrox) can be on top of the world as long as you have the best video card. Right now the ATI Radeon 9700Pro is in that possition. As long as that card is in the top spot, ATI is making a whole lot of $$$. They also get tons of free advertising because every hardware site out there has reviewed it and since it is currently the fastest, they recommend it. nVidias top card (GeForce 4 Ti4600) is no longer th head of the pack. I, along with most people, just look at it as an overpriced video card. ATI has to be selling at least twice as many Radeon 9700 PRO's that nVidias GeForce 4 Ti4600. nVidia knows that all the attention is on ATI so they try to steal it by offering as much information about their next card as they can. It's an attempt to get people to hold off on buying a card now, because the FX will be faster.

Thanks for the reply Shiznit. It just seems you can't make an intelligent decision because no one really knows what is going on. Guess I'm still to new at this or to old for it or both the above.......<BR><BR>Later........

Farmer whenever a new nVIDIA videocard is about to be released there's always a lot of hype...
