Looks like an Athlon XP, but with a bigger CPU die. What makes a CPU die bigger? an extra 256kb L2 Cache. Could it be a Barton?

Hey Shiznit... Yes that's how the Barton will look like and yes the die is bigger because of the extra L2 cache... With more surface area to make contact with the core I would expect better temperatures as well for AMD users!

I wasn't really asking questions...I know it's a Barton

the AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (Barton) is going to debut with a price tag of $571. I seriously hope it performs on par, or better than the P4 3.06Ghz CPU.

I know it is. If I was looking for a 3Ghz PC and the Intel performed a little bit better, I wouldn't know what to do

Well since I'm suppose to be bias towards Intel, I wonder if they're going to release the 800 MHz based 3.2 GHz P4 and the Springdale to try and steal some of AMD's thunder... It's suppose to be coming out in early Feb too!

Bah, gimme a 800 MHz FSB based P4!

The first couple months after it is released, that is all the hardware sites are going to talk about, except this one, because there never seems to be any "new technology" news here

LOL! Ooooo, that hurt!

Haha, well I'm fairly close to AMD so I'm hoping to be one of the first to get the Hammer... that's assuming they're giving review samples to more then just the biggest sites. We've gotten quite a few chips from them before NDA broke!

Of 2002, we were only passed on two chip releases (XP 2200+ and XP 2400/2600+) from AMD and we got the CPU's like a few weeks later!

A few weeks later? A real hardware site would have them a few weeks before

For all the other chips we got it before NDA expired!
