I just started folding cause what the hell, all the processor power isn't doing anything whilst I sleep. Naturally, I assumed the temperature of the CPU to go up and it did. I'm folding right now and the CPU temp is 52/125 degrees. I think this is a very good temperature for a CPU running at 99% load (my old Athlon XP 1500 used to run 52/125 degrees constantly even though it was underclocked) however, extended periods of stress couldn't lessen the life of a CPU, could it?

roy nice to have you aboard!

I guess you could say doing F@H will lower the life expectancy of your processor but I think you would only start noticing problems after 5 or more years.

I agree with what colin has to say. It does put a lot of stress on the CPU so people with overclocked processors run the risk of doing damage, but it would be over a prolonged period of time. A CPU at stock speeds should have no problems for many years.
