i am currently running xp home, i have pro but i don't know if i should switch, can anyone give me some pros and cons for getting pro, and what are like all the differences of the 2 OS
xp home can only be installed on one machine

xp professional can be installed on as many machines as you want.

thats pretty much the only differences.

if you want a real os, check out mandrake 9.0 .... 9.1 beta is out as well .. i am downloading that now.
filip69692000 XP Pro has support for physical dual processors (XP Home does work with HyperThread enabled P4's properly) and supports much better networking! In terms of performance though they;re about the same.

The only reason why you'd want to upgrade IMO is if you have multiple computers at home and want to network them together. If not, then you're fine.

<< if you want a real os, check out mandrake 9.0 >>

What is the difference between 8 and 9/. I have 8 and I wanna know if it is worth upgrading.

Also only get XP Pro if you really need the extra features...if not it will be a waste of money.
9 comes with kde3

dont remember what 8 came with. but theres just the usually improved applications and such.

i am not much of a linux user so i really couldnt tell you. i have been running it onmy 1700+ system for a few days now trying to learn it really. seems easy enough. but i am not experianced enougn in linux to really tell you what has been improved or done to it.

kde 3 is very nice though
I too only started using Linux about 3 months ago therefore i am a newb too. I will have to get Mandrake 9 if it is that much better
