I want to overclock my cpu so I decided to get a bios that changes the fsb of my cpu at small increments so I downloaded the most recent beta bios from this page here
I flashed my bios and replaced it with this one but the programmed fsb modes are still the same (either 100/100, 100/133, or 133/133)
I want to update my bios so I can get that little bit of speed for 3dmark to break the 4k barrier on my video card

did the bios specifically say it adds the feature of 1mhz incriment fsb bumps?

i doubt it would ... ecs boards not capable of overclocking .. hense the reason for why they are cheap.

Joe has it backwards...they aren't cheap because they can't overclock, they can't overclock, because they are cheap. In the event that you did overclock that board, it would probably melt into a pile of oozing ************************ on the bottom of your case.

Ok you two break it up!

Canadian-Guy I'm not familiar with the ECS K7S5A myself, but I know that board has limited overclocking abilities even with the overclcoker BIOS. Is there anywhere in your BIOS where you can set HW Trap? That looks like the key to unlocking the FSB's...

You'll want to replace that lousy stock cooler on the SiS735 chipset, it'll overheat at high FSB's.

Yes this board is notorious for the chipset heatsink. I read on another forum about this and they say they just use
double back sticky tape to put the heatsink on! I think it was for mass-producing reasons but i took it off, peeled of the tape and used sum type 44 ester based heatsink compound and it helped a whole helluva lot. Now i dont even use this board its basically a paperweight now lol.

AMD Athlon XP 1700+
GA-7DXE Mobo
768 PC2100 DDR
Radeon 9000 Pro
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
4.1 Labtec Surround
20 GB Western Digital
15 GB Maxtor
48x Samsung
32x10x40 Lite-On
7 Fans (3 exhast 2 intake cpu radeon) 4 @ 24 volts
Case with 420 Watt PS
Average Temp. 37-40 deg C (never seen it above 45 loaded down)
O/C @ 1595mhz FSB @145/145

You can OC this board, mine boots at 150/150 and will do 166/166, it depends what revision your board is, I ran my rev 1 board at 13.5x146.7 with an XP2200+. My Pro (rev5) has had Bartons (333 bus cpu's) running on it.

MD, this thread was dropped over a year ago. Canadian-Guy ditched the board quite a while ago.
