epox 8rda+ and xp2800+ .. thats my suggestion.

although if i where you i would just wait for the bartons to be released. unless your only into gaming. then that 8rda+ and 2800+ will be perfect for you.

what are the bartons?

Joe

bartons are the new amd chips coming out with 512k cache on them compared to the 256 that is onthe current athlons.

it wont make much of a difference to you if you just game. rendering graphics and cad etc etc is where you will notice the difference with the cache.

Even if you don't go for the Barton, the price of the T-Bred CPU will come down.

filip69692000 you don't need to get an XP 2800+... Just get one with an AIUHB stepping and you're set, 2.5 GHz out of it easy!

As for best mobo, I love the 8RDA+ too... It's super fast and overclocks like mad too!

you should be sorry your a NOOB!!! Naa just joking here cause everybody is a newb at something at sometime...now my answer isn't 100% correct, hell to tell you the truth I am just guessing at this (but I actually heard something about this) but I believe it has something to do with the cpu, my guess would be a type of cpu like the T-bred?

it's actually a same family but a different revision of the same CPU think of it that way. in fact i just got that CPU colin's talking about. the 2100+ T-bred stepping AIUHB. and it really overclocked as well as people been talking about. altho i didn't go all the way... hehe... don't wanna kill it too fast, since i just got it. the stock speed of a 2100+ is 1.73 Ghz. i've overclocked it to 2.13 Ghz which is same as a 2600+. most people who happen to know about this peticular stepping of t-bred will tell you that you can easily hit 2.4 with air cooling. but as i said... i choose to back it down little. it's my new toy.. don't wanna break it too fast. as colin said... and it's true. you better off spending 95 bucks (which is how much they sell this one now) and overclock it to a 2600+ or higher.

usually you can find stepping number right on the edge of the CPU. it'll usually say "AMD ........... AIUHB or AIUGA" ask colin.. he has lots of sample pictures.

-bam!

Yeah filip69692000 what Howard BAM! said...

It's all in the stepping... If you get the right stepping you'll be able to overclock well past XP 2800+ speeds! The current bad ass is the AIUHB AthlonXP. If you can get that, you're all but guarenteed 2.4-2.5 GHz on good air cooling!

You can read the stepping right off the processor

See where that processor says AIUAB? Get yourself an AIUHB and you're set!

The slowest I have seen an AIUHB is XP 2100+.
