I would, but... I know my PC won't be able to handle it<BR>
It really does look skillz
What are the specs needed to run it at medium-good quality?

well im not sure, but Im sure if I guess I could probably come pretty close:<BR><BR>GeForce 3/or equal to that/or higher<BR>P4 1.2ghz or Athlon 1400<BR>256mb ram<BR>win 9x(except for 95)/ME/XP/2000 etc<BR>

Should be equiv or slightly higher than UT2003 as it is also a new 3D Engine that just came out. Somewhere around:<BR><BR>P4/Athlon XP<BR>256 required/512MB RAM Reccomended<BR>GeForce2 required/G4 or Radeon 9XXX<BR>4GB HD space<BR>Win 98/Me/XP

well I was pretty close for just guessing what it'll need<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
from what i heard it's different. one of the game developer said to Nvidia that so far the game already top out the limit of a 9700pro. so you can be damn sure that it'll require some amazing components to run it. he even said that even today's top end machines will haev to give in a little for the performance.

doesnt sound like im gonna be gettin it, it would probally be choppy as hell if it doesnt freeze
If Doom 3 is that demanding then why is a game like Splinter Cell looking so good on my system and my specs are has good as yours. I wouldn't think Doom 3 would be much more demanding then Splinter so alot of you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
you have to understand spplintercell was developed way before doom3. even tho they're both DX9 baed games, both utilizes different graphic engines and methods, and of course the way the codes were written were different too. therefore one can't judge doom3 based on splinter cell. they're even two entirely different companies too. the Doom3's graphic shader is way more complicated than that of splintercell. the shader codes for the true life shadow is similar to what splinter cell did but way more depth and complicated. the shader codes apparently are so long that it tops out the limit of 9700 pro's limit for shader code length. although i think that's what ATI is addressing on their upcoming 9800 pro which incorporate a virtual shader engine that is able to break down the shader codes into pieces to process it at once.
Also, Splinter Cell is one of those games developed for a gaming console. Seeing as consoles, even the mighty xbox with it's celeron 733 and geforce graphics is horribly graphics limited. So any game that was originally for a console is going to run very well on any system with those specs or better.

it also has to do with the engine and technology there using for the engine... Just look at GTA3 and Mafia, different engine and everything and mafia looks a lot better and its not so demanding
very well said guys!<BR><BR>also actually it's a PIII 733 inside the xbox <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> just a side note!
The last one I took aparts was p3 based celeron, the coppermine core, not a real p3. Maybe they are different in asia?
the xbox's CPU is based on a modified version of PIII 733. the modification cut down half the size of the original cache size. so it's a PIII with 1/2 of the cache size, since the newer celerons are baed on the later PIII cores but only performs not as well and also smaller cache size. so you weren't entirely wrong about thinking of it as a celeron. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> it's actually it's all microsoft and intel's marketing strategy. to cut down the production cost. <BR><BR>"Microsoft Xbox Processor: Modified Intel Pentium III 733 MHz Maximum bus transfer rate of 6.4 GB per second Graphics: Custom nVidia 3-D graphics chip 250 MHz Approximately 125 million polygons per second Audio: Custom 3-D audio processor RAM: 64 MB (Xbox has a unified memory architecture -- the memory can be allocated to graphics, audio, textures or any other function as needed.) "
ah, that explains it...still a POS!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
