sorry about that, this link should work.
8601
I have already seen your tweak guide(it is mainly overclocking, I just wanted to see how high I could get my score with just software tweaks).
Thanks again.

my score is always around 4600 to 4700. is that low or around what i should get with my specs, well processor is now at 1.4ghz.

you should be getting much more then that.

seeing your motherboard is a bit dated and you are using sdram with a 1gig cpu .. i would think you would be getting around 8k-10k in 3dmarks .. and not much more then that. but thats just a guess at what you should be getting.

are you running a 1gig stick of ram 2x 512sticks of ram or 4x 256 sticks of ram? the more seperate sticks of ram you use in a system can cut down a lot on performance. also the fact that you are using dual monitors will reduce your performance in benchmarks and games.

i really dont know how the 9000pro performs but i would definately think it would perform much better then that.

are you benchmarking with the default settings?

also what os are you running?

ElrichMeister can you provide us a compare URL? That would help trying to solve what's wrong...

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Hmm... That is low ElrichMeister!

First thing I would do is, go into your display properties and change yoru Direct3D settings to best performance. That should boost your score a bit.

does any1 know why my FSB reads 66Mhz only?
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=5860887

its my processor right?

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
FTO that's just an error with the ORB. Every K7S5A owner has that problem.

FTO
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
oic, so my low score is because of the processor mostly rite? and probably the ram?

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
FTO I would say it's a combination of both.

fto I dont get why your videocard is much better but scores lower than mine, with my little knowledge I dont think your cpu and ram can bring down your score that much....
heres my compare url blah

ElrichMeister
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
ok this when i changed everything on the highest performance these are my results i think the vsync is what drags my scores down

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
!!! V-Sync... That could be it ElrichMeister because V-Sync locks your maximum frame rates...

ElrichMeister
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
so is that the score that i should be getting

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
ElrichMeister that score looks much better, that's what I would expect from your system.

I don't get it ElrichMeister's graphics card is better than my 8500LE and I have a better score(and that's not my highest score, my highest is 9037).

8601
Glockillusion no actuallyt eh Radeon 9000/9000Pro is slower then teh 8500's on average! in fact, ATI is renaming the 8500 a 9100 to correct t hings.

ok, cool
Colin do you have any suggestions for improving my score(I have already set direct3d to performance)
thanks in advance

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Glockillusion unfortunately yoru link doesn't work so I can't see what your FPS's are, but check out my 3DMark tweak guide.

Now the link should work...

Wot's all this about direct3d then? That will help my scores? ooooo mewants some!!! gonna look for your article now!

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Glockillusion first, DX 9 and the 6255 drivers are not that great for 3DMark2001SE... Not to worry though, 3DMark2003 will be out next week so I wouldn't bother downgrade.

Your score actually looks very good for a stock system, try some of those tweaks I suggested in the article and i'm sure you'll boost your score!

Glockillusion
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Thanks for your help, ok I will wait for 3DMark2003 and I will try those tweaks
BTW I got this new score 9037 just by lowering my colour quality from 32 bit to 16bit(Sandra2002 recommended lowering the colour quality).

what are some tips to get a better score?

Glockillusion
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
ok, thanks for the info(I might have actually shown that score to someone ).

<< what are some tips to get a better score? >>

Hey Spearco, welcome to PcStats.
A compare link to your score will make it easier for us to help.
Get the latest drivers for all your hardware.
Go into the display properties go to the settings tab and click on advance, then go to the direct3d tab and set it to Optimal performance(i'm not sure if your card supports this but it should).
and for more tips go to colin, he knows alot more than me.

here 10283 3DMark Score. is DirectX 9.0 better than DirectX 8.1?

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Spearco actually you got a very good score for your system spec's! What I would do if I were you is, set your mitmap detail settings to best performance... Other then that you'll need to tweak your OS and overclock to get a better score.

Have you read my tweak guide yet?

Spearco
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Yes it is very helpful. My MSI came with overclocking software like video card, cpu, ram, and front side bust. Is the MSI overclocking software good?

Spearco
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
new score here 11911

Colin
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
Spearco unfortunately taht's not the default benchmark so it's not comparable to other scores.

At 640x480 you're mainly CPU limited... Have you tried the tweaks out yet? You should be able to eek out a few hundred more points at stock I think.
