LOL. My second 73 pointer should be done by tomorrow evening. bluegreenshxt, I'd rather do more folds for the same points than see the same one day after day after day......the jump in points when you finally finish is pretty cool, but other than that.....

sight*****... lost another fold last night .... freakin explore.exe error.. couldn't shut down F@H properly before i restart it. do anyone know if there's any way you can shut it down properly even after your explore.exe crashes?. i went into the task manager and basically just ended the FahCore_65.exe and that f*cked me up.... lost all my work.

by the way. Colin. since i am getting my power supply tomorrow. i am gonna try to clock it even higher up to 2.26GHz. so when i run the sandra burn test. when or how will i know if the cpu is stable and no calculation error so i can safely use it to do my folding

i got the Antec true480. i really hope it's as quiet as they say it is.

so about my last question about sis sandra. how long do i have to run the burn test to know if my CPU calculation is stable. ?

oh and get your ass into the chat room so i can talk to you!!

F@H is basically maxing out your CPU 24/7. A CPU benchmark is just going to do the same thing so if it is only unstable for a couple minutes a day, chances are it won't be while your using the benchmark software. It will happen radomly and since F@H is running 24/7 it will fall victim.

it's not it's unstable. i've ran it this speed for a week now.. and it's solid. it's just that i need to reformat my drive. haven't done that in 9 months. the explore.exe would crash on me once in a while. it's been happening since way back like 4 months ago. i know it's not the overclock's problem. everytime it crashes it just close down all the system tray icons, althought the programs are still running in the background. it's a really annoying problem. i've had this like i said way back before i even got my T-bred.

it must be the fact that you oc'ed it...cause i NEVER lost a WU yet...as of the day that i started..LOL...and i've survived through one power outtage, one power cord pulling experience, and half a dozen freezes/crashes...but then and again...i formatted near beginning of january or end of december...i dunn remember..lol

a solution would be to back up your wu every time you are on your comp (no idea if it will make it corrupt or what)...but i would try it...

BAM!
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
ok... i am not gonna say this again!!.... it's not the overclock.... i've had this problem way before i even started overclocking.
and i've folded tons of WU's with this speed and tons of benchmarks and games. it's stable as a ROCK!!... i know where the
problem is. my winxp is srewed up.... it's been screwed up!! so just hear me out!!

lol...okay, okay, it's not an overclocking problem. It is a Windows Problem. Are you running XP? Before XP I used to run 98 and it needed a good reformat at least once every 6 months. XP seems to be holding up much better. This installation I have on here now will probably last almost a year until I am forced to reformat to install Windows 64bit OS this fall.

BAM!

i haev a winxp pro. and i haven't done a reformat for almost a year now. i used to do a reformat once every 4-5 month even with xp too. just to clear out some junks and make it run smoother. but i've been holding it off for a new HD. just that didn't know it was gonna that this long to get it. now every once so often i'll see some strange program errors. ******sight***** but it's ok! this time is for real now!!.. that's on the top of "my next to get list". it's really cool that you mentioned that your HD runs quiet too. i've been wanting a quiet hard drive for a long time now. everything else on my comp is runninng so fast that my HD just can't keep it up sometimes i feel like i am choking that poor thing. i've had this deskstar since freshman year so it's been about 3 years now.
... time to move on!!

BAM!
06-15-04, 01:25 PM
but like you said... it's A LOT better and stable than 98 tho!... at least it never actually freeze on me! ok i am exagerating.... it did it like twice within that past 12 month. ... still good tho..

Avid6eek

I have never had WinXP actually crash on me. I've had programs crash because of it, but the OS never seems to faulter....I guess it's a step in the right direction.

Howard BAM! just wait till your new PSU comes in... I think your problems may go away when you install it.
