what do they things do? where can i get one?
i wouldnt say there are "ram defraggers" .. but more or less reg tweaks to better control your ram usage.

memturbo from silicon prarie software is a good defragger, but it's redundant with WIN XP, anything before XP and non nt kernel based will be the ideal platform for memturbo.
As with almost anything you purchase it, I believe that memturbo is available online from the silicon prarie website. $40 dollars or so, it's your desicion as to whether it is a good buy or not.

I like the program Ram Idle, its weird because the trial has expired but it keeps running I just can't change any settings on it

Zaltec is right. They are a bit redundant in XP, but they do work wonders in 9x. MemTurbo also has an easier interface if you want to quickly change the Vcache settings (if you run more than 512Mb RAM in Windows). I'd have to say it's been worth every penny since I purchased it.
