I have the same problem as the guy with the 8rda+, i know my unlock on the processor is good but i still cant get adjustments on the multiplier in the bios, just wondered if i had to fill the l10 bridge and connect that too, would it work??? not sure what processor i have though i know its not a tbred b because it didn't come unlocked, it has green backing not brown, can anyone tell me what it is???

Hey guys!

Well, I decided to be adventurous and try to unlock my cpu... I filled the gaps on the L1 section, and connected the dots

I'm not sure if it worked though. I checked the resistances with an ohmeter, and they all had hardly any (~0.1 Ohms)...

The problem is, now if i set my defaults in my bios, it thinks i have a XP1900... Even if I go set the clock to 12.5, it drops to 12.0. Same with any other multipliers... If i try to go to 16.0, it drops down to 8.0 and i have a 667mhz or 1250mhz...

This is really making me crazy. That and having my parents' hard drive crash last night... stupid computers!

Can someone that's unlocked a cpu tell me if i did it right? I'd take a pic, but my digi camera sucks at anything closeup (and those are TINY).

Oh, also, here's what core i have:
AX20000DMT3C
AGOIA0215MPMW

What's that mean? Think it'll overclock good?

Stepping info:

(i forget what they are, but i wrote them down in the same layout as CPUZ returns):

6 6 2
7 6 A5
JLAudioFan I never measured the resistance difference so I won't be able to help you there.

It sounds like you didn't unlock yoru processor properly, what did you use to fill the gaps and what did you use to connect the dots? Can you access any x.5 multipliers?

If you do not mod the L10 bridge, unlocking will only give you access to 5x-12.5x multipliers (no 16x multiplier for you! )

YOu got a good stepping, with good a good air cooler, you should be able to hit 1.9 GHz.

I used some caulking to close the gaps, and rear defogger paint to connect the bridges.

wtf else do i have to do? I really have no idea, since noone's given me a straight answer. i've been searching the net all day and I still cant find any help
JLAudioFan I find the biggest problems for me is, after I fill the gaps, traces of the "gap filler" will dry on top of the dots.

Before you apply the conductive paint, clean off the points with something shapr like a pin.

i was just wondering if the new Thoroughbreds have to be unlocked differently then the older .18 micron XPs?(only worked with old school till my new mainboard)....i heard it was different process....

Stressed,

If you run an Epox 8RDA+ and a T-Bred there is no unlocking involved. At least on the 2100 I had a full range of multipliers available to me with no CPU tinkering.
LouisWinthorpeIII welcome to PCStats!

First download CPU-Z, it will tell you if you have a Palomino or T-Bred... If it's a T-Bred, flash yoru 8RDA+ with latest bios and you'll have multiplier control.

If it's a Palomino, you'll have to fill your L1's and use conductive paint.

Cheers buddy, could not get the multiplier past 12.5 thats why i asked but it doesn't really matter now have blew up my power supply so will be able to test it next week, unlocked the l10 anyway to get 16x multiplier but didn't want to boot so i guess it didn't like me, have the latest bios still no joy, dont rate it for overclocking much at all! never keeps settings or loads into os!!! thanks for that program anyway my bro gave it to me but cheers anyway
I am having the same problem. I used superglue to fill in the gaps and then used Window defog repair kit to connect the dots and 1900+ is all I get. I have never heard that you have to screw w/ L10 so I am going to try that. Let me know what you had to do!!

well, i think what im gonna end up doing is buying a AHUIB t-bred 2100+

i redid the laser locks, and it finally went back to being a 2000+, but i never got it to overclock =/
Nono guys!!! Palomino's slower then XP 2100+ do not need to mess with the L10! this is what you have to do if you get a XP 2100+ Palomino...

I'd bet a million dollars you guys didn't clean off your contacts properly that's why you can't access all the multiplier ranges.

JLAudioFan, quite a few other members have the XP 2100+ AIUHB and they got some nice oc's out of it!

Ok, so if I clean my contacts.... and redo them, i should be able to overclock?
JLAudioFan yes, I think if you clean off the contacts you should be able to unlock the processor.

Please keep in mind, you'll need something to scrape off the substrate that may have hardened on top of teh contacts! I used a pin head to clean them off.
Could it be something in the BIOS that will not let us get past 1900+? I haven't tried cleaning them off but why would my 1700+ unlock just fine but the 2000+ gives me this 1900 crap?
