Hi. I just signed up for the forums, but I've been getting the newsletter for a long time now. I was wondering what the differences in the application and the screensaver versions of the software are. Does the screensaver one only start to work when the windows screensaver is activated?

I'm running an Athlon XP 1800+, 512 MB PC 2100, (and a GeForce4 Ti4600--won't help but I wanted to brag).

The screensaver version can run fullscreen so it looks like a screensaver while your computer is idle and folding. I would advise you to get the fat-free version because the visual effects take up clock cycles and could possible make folding significantly longer. I go with the GUI version and always keep it minimized.

if you want the colsole or gui version but also want to have it as a screen saver and pop up when you're away. downlad EMIII's screen saver. it's a plug-in software/screen saver for F@H. you can find the link the one of the threads i posted called "F@H addon software" cool thing about it is that it almost take up no system resources at all. you won't have to worry about losing the clock cycles on the graphs. i talked to the author and he said it uses even less clock cycles than EMIII itself.

-bam!

Hey Zig, welcome to PCStats!

To be honest I always thought teh graphics slowed F@H a bit... My machine folds slower with them enabled (or is it cuz I'm using a P4? ). But I guess if Howard BAM! talked to the F@H guys and said it doesn't make a difference I guess he's right.
