98SE will not restart in MS-DOS mode

has anybody else had this happen. i recently installed the OS and nothing else seems out of the ordinary. the DOS shell works fine from the desktop. the system just won't restart in MS-DOS mode. any suggestions/tips?

TechMD do you know how to bring up the startup menu? <BR><BR>Just before Win98SE loads, press the F8 key and you can boot to a command prompt.

i'm beginning to believe that it might be something w/my video card.<BR><BR>i never had a problem restarting in DOS before...<BR><BR>it's not like i need to do it, it's just a concern because it's doing it now and has not in the past...

although a dos problem wouldnt be caused by your graphics card!! so its not that.<BR><BR>hope you sort it out <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

DOS is fine. i just can't restart in DOS.
