View Full Version : Duel PSU
for one i highly doubt you will need 24amps of power to run a pelt. and that 24amps you are looking for is not all on just one rail. it is split up between all rails of the power supply.

heres a psu colin got for 70bux http://becooling.safeshopper.com/26/159.htm?805 just to show you there are fairly cheap psus out there that will work good for a pelt setup. you can find those things cheaper as well. if you look around enough. but in reality any high end computer psu will work great for a peltier setup. only reason to buy something like colin has is if you are limited on space.

Danger Den sells a 226w Peltier. Here are the requirements:

Maximum operating temp: 125 C
Imax = 24 Amps
Qmax = 226.1 Watts
Vmax = 15.2 Volts
Delta Tmax = >67 (C)
Size = 50mm X 50mm X 3.10mm
I was asked how did I hook up two psu's . Well I hooked them Seperately 1 is atx and the other is at switchable . In the pic you see the cable coming out of the case with switch attached . It will be moved soon to the inside . When i can shift my case around (dam surgery). I have cut a hole in the back to accomidate the 2nd psu and drilled holes for the switch and screws .

There are benifits to haveing it this way , during the day your mod lighting is'nt very effective or if nobody is to view it should we waste our money to power it all . With this setup I can use the switchable PSU to power the lights as needed.

Ever work inside you computer and need that extra light I have that too

Back in the days when I was looking into water cooling and using peltiers I was going to get a second PSU just to power the Peltier and mods. People buy specail peltier PSUs and they cost over $100. Kinda dumb when you can just use another ATX PSU.
The cost on this Mod was roughly Eighty bux . The PSU was free, an old one I cleaned up
I do Have a Piggyback ATX/ATX in progress .

I meant back in the day as in a year or two ago Yeah, the "Peltier PSU" are rackmount PSUs. Either way they are still expensive compared to a regular ATX PS.
you can ge ta psu for like 50bux if all you want it to do is run a pelt.

Wow, pretty case mod.... :0~~~ *DROOL*

My case is so small and hard to work with, had I water cooling, I'd have no where to place the ducts.

Last time I checked out peltiers the higher wattage ones needed 24amps. At least that is the highest one I saw, not that you really need anything like that. That is a very nice PS you showed me there. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever do go down that road. Unfortunately, my budget won't let me as of now. When I get out of college in a few years though, I should have enough money to run as many rigs as I want, however I want....life will be good.
pelts arent worth the time and money any more. the wattage cpus put out compared to the average wattage a pelt puts out. it abotu equals out and you should maybe a few degrees below ambient. (considering the amount of energy lost during the cooling proccess of the peltier)

are you sure you dont mean 24v? ... 24amps is a LOT of power. hell multiply that by 4 and you could arch weld with it lol.
