nice score dude...!!!... of course we could help you boost some more. initially i had around 12000 too. here is my score click

luckily for 3dmark2001se there're lots of things you can tweak. so lets start:
1. make sure in your video driver properties you turn off all the verticle sync in D3D and OpenGL
2. under D3D set the system to best performance instead of best image quality.
3. in bios, try change your memory to the lowest timing you can. although since you have a pc2100 OCed to over 170FSB i doubt the memory can handle any low timing. also try upp the DDR voltage too just to help.
4. if it's possible, unlock your CPU to access even lower multiplyer which will allow you to increase the FSB even more to boost the overal performance. although, personally i find it a lot of work to do, so it's up to you. depends on how enthusiastic you are.!
5. get better airflow and try push your ti4200 to a higher frequency. i've seen those thing come very close to 4600. so give it a shot!
6. last and not least, disable all the background software like antivirus ....etc stuff of course while you run the 3dmark.
7. also i find i get better score right after i restart.

keep us updated! and have fun!

Utaks welcome to PCStats and welcome to the team!

You definitely have a "14k capable system" there but a few questions first...

Which brand Ti4200 are you running? Are you running your memory in sync with the FSB and with the most aggressive memory timings? Did you read my 3DMark Tweak Guide? Yes I was using a P4 for that article, but the tweaks still apply.

I usually get the best overall performance with teh Detonator 40.52's...

Ok, I ran 3D Mark with a bit different setting and got 12814, and It let me publish it:
12814 3D MARKS

First off, my 2400+ is unlocked by default on this EPoX 8RDA+ Mobo, and that test of 12814 had a multiplier of 12.5, and my highest score of 12881 I had a multiplier of 13. Colin, i know you only got 250MHz out of your 2400+, and I have got 350MHz out of it before and I'm getting ready to run the test overclocked to about that, but what do you think I should set the multiplier at and the FSB at to get 350MHz out of it for best performance speaking i have PC2100 memory?

I'm off to run the 3D Mark after following the guide and i"m going to see Ifi can break 350Mhz OC on this baby....

Nice rig mang! Good luck on those overclocks!

Utaks you can use any multiplier up to 25x I believe... Try using a 15x multiplier or something like that, it's difficult to say though which is your optimal setting.

Heres a pic of my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ I'm using for this overclocking escapade:

AIUHB - isn't this the one they so overclocks so well? Also, someone said that you can tell what week this athlon was made or something like that, can anyone explain how to decipher this?

DeanLowe
06-15-04, 02:25 PM
that's from the 48th week of 2002, if I'm not mistaken.

Colin

Utaks DeanLowe pretty much told you all you want to know... First the stepping is hte AIUHB and the year and week follows, in your case it's 0248. Your chip was made in week 48 of 2002.

It should b ea fairly good overclocker, I'd expect at least 2.4 GHz out of you!

I'll post a review of my Athlon 2400+ AUIHB stepping CPU on my forum at Utaks.net, and please join my forum, I will have the rest of my site up (your redirected to the forum for now) soon and if all goes well I will be able to write reviews on new hardware, and have hardware news. My first reviews will be on this 2400+ Athlon CPU, and the EPoX 8RDA+ Nforce2 Motherboard. Please go to the Overclockers Area to read how to become part of the UtAkS.NET 3D Mark TeAM!

Thats ok you laugh at my computers score, but this pos computer was store-bought. I intend to build my next computer to be an ultimate gaming machine.

Any ideas of mobos, CPUs, and video cards would be a great help.

Colin, We are basically only into AMD systems right now, although I wouldn't mind having a 3GHz p4 but its just not in the budget. either way I have tried and tried to tell Trm96 that the EPoX 8RDA+ Nforce2 Board is 'basically' the best OCing Athlon Board out, wouldn't you agree? I have been telling him since he plans to get a Water Cooling System for OCing purposes, that he should either get a 2100+ AIUHB T-bred or a 2400+ AIUHB Tbred since they both are great overclockers, and I told him he should get a Water GPU cooler also (especially if he DOES get that Radeon 9700 Pro!).

Utaks, the choices you list are top of the line for overclocking. I would recommend the 2100 because of the price difference. If you can afford the 2400 then by all means go for it. I just ordered the 2100 for myself and will probably be getting the epox board in a couple of months...just because I want to get the best out of my overclock. My Dragon Ultra has served me well and is very stable but from what I hear is not the best for overclocking. And the thing that pisses me off is that the epox board is cheaper.

What video card do you recommend me putting in my new computer i am building?

06-15-04, 02:26 PM
It just depends on how much you wanna spend....

trm96
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Well I don't really care. Price is no object... As I said above I want to build the ultimate gaming machine. I am prepaired to spend 500, 600 if I have to.
