Hi.

I just started to fold couple of days ago but am completely puzzled by the way the ranking system works. PCStats team seems to have less units that some teams bellow us have, same with my individual units (1 so far, lol), yet I'm ranked above some other people on our team with more units.

I think I got it after reading some posts here. It seems each unit is assigned different value and ranking is based on the points, not WUs. You have to excuse me, I was still thinking in SETI@Home where all that counts are WUs. I managed to get 1003 there.

Karateka
Nice rig Karateka, you OC that at all? What kind of 3d marks do you pull?
Yeah each WU has a defined amount of points assigned, if you dl EMIII you can see how much it's worth beforehand There is a thread in this forum somewhere with that, called F2H add-on software or something.
Nice to have you aboard the team, but beware...that P4 will not fold as fast as a comparable athlon...P4 have a relatively low FPU
well, the Folding app seems to have some optimizations built in.
I can OC the computer to 2.98 or something, I have ThermalTake Spark 7 fan on it. Problem is, at 3GHz, Hyperthreading kicks in and my board gets completelly confused at the CPU detection at start and halts.

3D Mark 2001 is 14030
3D Mark 03 is 4723

Karateka
Nice...shame about the OC thing...I didn't realise that HT was being put on the old processors aswell. Allthe more reason to but a C1 based 2.4, Colin got his to 3.3ghz
3dMark03 is brutal isn't it? That 9700PRO helps alot tho.
Karateka welcome to PCStats! zaltec pretty much summed it up, it's all due to points. The faster you fold the more points you get per WU and we're getting a lot of points for our WU.

Karateka what do you mean HT kicks in at 3 GHz? If it does, that must be a "feature" of the motherboard because on P4's slower hten 3.06 GHz HT is disabled by default...

Very nice 3DMark scores though, hwo does your Raeon 9700 Pro overclock?

That's what I mean, when computer boots up, it shows something like:
Pentium 4 at 2.53GHz CPUs (1)

The CPUs (1) part kinda comes fraction of a second after the line displays, as if it's checking for Hyperthreading.
If I oc my machine over 3GHz, that part never comes up, shows something like

Pentium 4 at 3.12GHz

and nothing, the CPUs(x) part doesn't show and computer halts, yet at 2.98GHz, it works fine.
I don't believe that the tiny difference would make the whole thing just freeze and do it at the CPUs place.

And on the topic of HT, it was shown by someone that Intel has it in basically every cpu using 533MHz bus, the yield etc. Unfortunatelly, my board does support HT but has no way to force HT off.

Karateka

PS: Haven't really overclocked my Radeon yet, I have 6 hard drives and 2 roms in my machine so I don't want to overheat something.

yea there are several cores that the client uses depending on which protein you get. there is 4 different core and one uses sse and the other do not.
