I recently obtained my Barton 2500 along with an SLK800 and a handful of TT Smart Fan 2's. Here are the results after a long day of testing:

Specs for reference:
Enermax 350W
Asus A7N8XDeluxe, BIOS revision 1002
AMD AthlonXP Barton 2500+ (11x203.59fsb=2239.45mhz : 1.85Vcore)
Thermalright SLK800 with Thermaltake Smart Fan II (temp: 47C full load @ 3000RPM)
2x256mb Corsair XMS PC3200 (2-2-2-6 : 2.7voltage)
Geforce 4 Ti 4400 (300/660)

Haha, I am so happy.

Do better? How so? One mhz higher in the FSB and I get a blue screen of death in Windows. Haven't tried 11.5x multiplier but I'm pretty sure it'll lockup. Also, the video card is clocked to a 4600 speed, I tried another 5 mhz core speed and I'd get 3Dmark crashes. What else could I try?

You sure sounded happy... LOL, a much better oc'er then your old Palomino XP 2100+!

As for your FSB, did you change the cooler on your northbridge yet? That thing could be holding you back, with my 8RGA+'s default cooler I could only get 200 MHz FSB but when I swapped it out, I could do 230ish.

Give the multiplier a bump. My Barton can handle around 2.4 GHz on air!

What type of cooling are you using for yoru GF4?

Oh btw nice 3DMark score, I hope you're benchmarking for team PCStats!

I have yet to change the chipset cooler. It's running the stock one which is passive and looks flimsy. I purchased the Zalman gold plated chipset sink which looks inviting but I am lazy to install it. I figure I can also use the 60mm thermo controlled fan that came with my Coolermaster heatsink that used to cool my 2100. I need to ask, is the chipset cooler on the A7N8X attatched with pushpins and adhesive, or just the pushpins? If it has adhesive, which is the correct way to remove the sink?

I just tried 11.5x200 and got restarts, I even went down to 198 and I got a restart after 3Dmark01 so I just went back to my regular settings. I guess the northbridge is really holding me back from pushing past 200.

My GF4 is using the TT copper cooler and some stock memory sinks. The stock sinks are bigger than the TT sinks so I didn't even bother with the TT ones because I heard they're useless. Also, there is a Smart Fan 2 on my side panel which is situated directly over the GF. Should I expect higher OC's from my card? I noticed there are low level OCs and driver level OCs. Should I combine the two? I remember reading a warning in RivaTuner that it wasn't safe.

As for the the PCStats 3Dmark team, every time I tried to upload my score to their servers I would get network errors. I'd gladly bench for this team if you think my scores are nice enough.

roy the stock Northbridge heatsink is attached via push pins. The pink pad on the bottom is a bit sticky though so you may need to use a bit more force to remove it. Just pull on it straight up and it will come right off.

Replace the Northbridge cooler before you try to rasie the FSB any higher...

As for your videocard, I usually use hardware level overclocking but there's no difference between either. The actual TT GPU cooler is pretty good but you're right about the ramsinks they're garbage. 300/660 is pretty good oc for a Ti4400.

Haha, I'd love to have you on the PCStats 3DMark team roy! You got an awesome score!

when my barton comes in, ill post some OC levels and such. as for now, regarding your OC on a gf4 ti 4400, i can get 300/620 with a 4200. amzing huh? thats all stock, and its a 64 meg card too. BUT, its the v2 of a ti 4200, so instead of being 4.2(i belive) nanosecond DDR, its 3.6, and a 4400 is 4.0 (correct me if im wrong, it may be 3.6 as well) so i may be able to go higher with some copper ramsinks instead of these alumium POS stocks....and i felt my card on the OC and is was quite toasty, but ran stable as hell, i jes need better sinks on that baby...
