yeah alot of people have done this ... its pretty cool when done right ... just make sure you use a color scheme and not a bunch of oddball peices.

you can actually buy peices from lego all in one color in bulk.

I just thought of a sweet one that I want to eventually try out. Go to garage sales and buy up all the lego you can and make a full tower case It's not really movable but damn that would be cool, it would just need some metal reinforcements in some places. I'm gonna try making it for my old 386 as an experiment since the case on that fvcker is heavy. Once the summer begins i'm going to try this.

That is a good idea...I have seen several and they can be really cool. Good luck!

They are really cool and you can make them however you want! Very creative.

Lol i have enough legos for a micro atx case, but maybe if I reposition the PSU i can fit a full size mobo.....

That sounds like a sweet idea, but just how would you be able to mount the mobo and drives in there? I know you would need to put some metal plates or something, but how would those fit? Anyone have any pics of someone else's, or a possible "how to" type thing?

Does the mobo have to be on a metal plate, for grounding reasons, or can it just sit loose. If it can, then maybe I could make a desktop, not tower, case and have the mobo on the bottom facing up. The drives could be positioned properly, and same with the PSU. If I was really ambitious, I could even make special routing areas for cables to clean up the mess.

I have no clue viper, thats why I want to experiment with a 386

No, the motherboard isn't grounded through the Mobo tray. It is grounded through the ATX Power connector that also powers the board. Just like the rest of the case, the mobo tray is grounded. If you were to use too large of screws on the standoffs, and they touched any circuitry on the motherboard, it would short the board.

you just get the parts blocked with blocks i guess

Dude, Lego TECHTRONICS "ROLLING PC TOWER".
Make a somewhat-mobile (batteries not included, but optional) Rig that rolls itself to the front or rear of your desk on X amount of rubber wheels whenever you want to work on it.

Of course, you'd have to be careful against it rolling off the desk completely...

Of course, you'd have to be careful against it rolling off the desk completely...That's why you put a safety tether on the back of it, or mount something like a curb on the front of the desk that it won't be able to drive over unless you're burning rubber when it comes off the line ;)

ROFLCOPTER..I can just see someone using K'NEX wheels and actually smoking the fake rubber on them.
