I just noticed that my cathodes, both at the same time, have dimmed considerably....could this be my lights dying or something else...maybe my PSU taking a sh!t?

I doubt both would die at the same time so it must be something else. If the PS is so bad that it causes them to dim, your system would probably shut down. Make sure everything is connected right.

everything else is connected right and working fine. I am stumped...I have tried unplugging everything that is non-essential and turning the computer back on but they are still noticably dimmer than before...DAMMIT!!!
i've noticed the cathods go a little dimmer when the weather gets cold, however not by a lot.

Howard, there is a problem with your logic there. A COLD cathode runs COLD. I could understand HOT weather affecting the brightness, but definitely not COLD weather.

As for your problem GNXtreme, are you overclocking anything? I found that when I overclocked my video card (GeForce 3 Ti200) from 175/400 to 200/450 the cathodes dimmed a little. I am running a 500watt Raidmax PSU so this doesn't exactly make sense, but that is what I found. Also, be sure to check the connections on your power cords, one of the pins is not fully in my plug on my rig and it has made the cathodes a little finicky. Also, are the cathodes in series or parallel (in common English, are the cathodes both connected to the same power cord on the PSU or are they on two different)?

they are both plugged in to the same connector...but I have checked it and it seems to be plugged in good....
there is nothing wrong with my logic. even a cold cathold light is still consist of electrical energy which is powered by electrical heat. if you hold the lcathode in your hand you'll still feel the heat. just because it's called cold catholde doesnt' mean it's COLD! however, there is no studies shown that hot weather can make it brighter , i am just saying i've noticed that it gets a little dimmer when the weather gets cold. although, it is not impossible that the enviremental heat can help increase the internal electrical temperature which powers up the cold cathold light stick.

BAM!
if you bought both the cathodes at the same time and are the same brand of cathodes ... yes it is very possible they are both dying. its not un common.

The avg. Cold lasts appoximately 30,000 hours (give or take 4 years), so you are just as likely to win the lottery, as you are to have them both dimm and fade out at the exact same time Maybe your just a lucky guy
