have you guys seen the new alienware case?... it looks kick ass..... some brand new design concept that no one's ever tried before. speaking from a designer's view point, definitely give them a A for the design. although don't know how well it actually performs tho. considering that i don't think it's a aluminum based case.i would toally get one if it was a aluminum based case. <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.alienware.com/sub_pages/alienware_case.aspx">see it</a>

i am actually living in boston right now.. since school is in boston. but i am still a citizen of taiwan. i still go home once every summer. it's funny how everwhere you go there's a computer store. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">. all the computer hardware companies you need you can find in every blocks. <BR><BR>i looked at the soldam site and their cases.. i am not digging them either.. too much like a tea table to me. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> i think we both have very different taste. i am more into futuristic shinny looking ones. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> like my design pieces <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">.

I'd love to get that tea table soldam case<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0"><BR>I really like the cableorganiser on the back of the Alienware case tho, and it was about time they switched from the dragon looking cases.<BR>I like your design stuff, as regards to the wallpapers and digital creation. Have you designed cases? You could probably get one created in Taiwan for a fair price in laser carbon modeling. That is how we create new pieces to test. It used to be hand carved...I'm glad I entered the field after that tho<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

I too am not a big fan of the new Alienware cases. They just look like overkill. All that plastic has to make the internal temps pretty high. They should just follow the other high end computer manufacturers (VooDoo, Falcon Northwest, etc) and use Coolermaster cases. Those Soldam cases look pretty nice as well.

Oh yeah, someone else likes Soldam! I like them and Coolermaster for sheer looks, but I also like Lian-Li for their industrial chic looks. They match my decor exactly...although I am leaning towards either a Coolermaster or a Soldam, as long as Coolermaster makes a red case. I was going to have it painted, but it will cost me $200 each way to ship and almost $5,000 for the paint. I took a look at some of the promo cases and the paint quality is as high and easier just to buy a pre-painted case<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Who needs the paint? I think the aluminum look is rather nice myself. My case was pre-painted black and it looks awsome. Shiney as all hell <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I agree with HowardBAM! Those new cases are beautiful. Mind you, have to remember my last experience with a pretty case (HP<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0"> )......<BR>That's why I wish you could purchase just the case sans any system whatsoever. Their total system prices are way too steep for my tastes.

Erm, Howard, that case would have to be sculpted aluminium...much harder to do. Making it in a conventional way wouldn't yeild any structural strength no eggshell effect. And if you were gonna sculpt it, your better off with breathable carbon fiber<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Not an architect, but I use sculpted aluminium and carbon fiber in cars quite a bit...the downforce in the lower lip of front end grndfx can be quite high on particular cars, so to create a piece of aluminium by taking a sheet and bending it with a pressure hammer wouldn't give you as high tensile strength as laser carving it. Hence your case could be easily dented if made of one piece of aluminium and the crease is placed in it. Sculpting it with a laser or carbide bit would make is much tougher, so it could drop on it's face and not bend or crack, plus you could make it 0.5mm instead of 1.0mm. <BR>Not really a consideration unless you subject your case to frequent kicks<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0"><BR>

i luv the new alienware case, especialy the white-silverish one with the white LEDs inside it. looks so sweet. but u know how cases go. even though its plastic n such, someone will make a case that looks similar, and new cases will b bases of the trend that Alienware has set. jes like the old alienware cases. u saw alienware cases, then u saw Antec SOHO serer cases, the chieftech and so on. so maybe, just maybe, will we see some plastic generic Alienware-ish cases.
