OK, a few things.
a) Underage drinking is not advisable.
b) Any m@ss produced Canadian beer is better than any m@ss produced American beer. (Sam Adams is a microbrew, despite it's recent popularity surge around the states.)
c) Fosters, Guinness and Harp are all brewed in Canada to lower cost on importing beer. This makes them Canadian beers and ales.
d) Compsnake, Heineken is Dutch
Last but not least, learn well for the greatest ales are Belgian Trappist Ales. Nothing else compares to un-pasteurised trappist ale! It isn't soft and nutty like Sam Adams, or sweet and sickly like Harp or Heineken. (It's true that comparing ales and beers is like comparing apples and oranges but what the heck) They have a pure hoppy flavour with slight malt and wheat accents depending on what the monks used.

Actually they DO NOT follow the original recipie. They are brewed under license from Coors (the owner of the Guinness-Bass corporation) and registered products of Canada. Harp is a beer actually, lager to be specific. Guinness is a lager also, despite it's dark looks. Bass is the only true ale of the three.

even if they did use the regualar recipes the ingredients would be slightly different because of the location (ie: soil mixture, fertilization, etc. etc.)

Canadian beer does suck. Moosehead sucks. Guiness is not a lager, it is an ale. I'm talking about the western Stout, not the candy-assed tap milkshake stuff. And NO variety of Guiness are Canadian recipies. Of the five varieties shipped to North America/brewed in Canada, none of the recipies have changed. I think there are about twenty varieties of the stuff for various markets around the world and all of them were developed and brewed in Europe. I drank them from there and now I drink many of them from Canada. The stuff they have in Belgium and in Australia are probably among the best, then comes the western Stout. I also buy bulk chemicals and raw plastic from Canada and it's all just fine, nothing wrong with it and most low tech materials are cheaper from Canada. Now, Canadian chicks are groovy if you can get them to stop talking. And they are sexually starved so it makes for some funny crap
