I've never had porn spill over into other drives....more than 40GB would be quite the collection. Unfortunately I lost my whole colllection a few months back (20GB+) so I've been spending lots of time on Kaaza.

Bummer mang! Sorry to hear that.
I have actually hit 2.52Ghz, but I jacked my ram backwards since its crappy(technically generic), FSB @210, multiplier 12....voltage 1.9, temps were hovering at like 42 idle, which I do not like...I should get better ram shouldnt I? hehe...I could run sandra with these...however as I said, the ram was running at around DDR333 always...so yeah...
DeanLowe
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
how stable was 2.5GHz?
well i ran both the cpu tests in sandra 3 times, before shutting my comp down and going to sleep...was pretty stable...only additions on mother board is a heatsink on southbridge, and a 40 mm fan on the northbridge stock heatsink...

Stable enough for everyday use? Gaming? 3D Mark2001/03?

2.5GHz sounds amazing. 42c doesn't seem that bad.
I tried again earlier today in the morning since my internet blew up for an hour...I ran the sandra tests again, and for the rest of the time, I ran prime95 for about 2 hours, internet came back up...so I changed everything back to my normal o/c...

p.s, before turning everything back my temps were like 47 after prime

LOL. That is the exact same chip I managed to get from excaliberpc.com. The problem is, mine clocked 2.400GHz (200FSB by 12x) with only air cooling. I would have expected water to have allowed you a much higher OC. (You do have a lower voltage than I do at 1.75v - nice)
For some reason I can't get my GEIL PC3500 to go past 438 without stability problems, and that's on 2.9v. Colin thinks my NB is overheating.
What is the rest of your set-up DoGMaN. Oh yeah, and welcome to pcstats. We need more experienced overclockers like yourself.
My system is pretty basic at the moment. Abit NF7-S v2.0 with a Vantec Iceberq on the NB and a little square pin heatsink on the SB. I think the chip still has a ways to go, I haven't really pushed it. I figure 2.6-2.7 is possible with some good cooling and 1.9-2.0v. I just have too much on the go right now to play too much. Thanks for the welcome. Seems like a damn cool place you guys have here.
so are you selling the cpu or what??

how high is your fsb on your epox board? mine wouldnt even go above 206 stably.. it was so annoying, wouldnt even do 2.3ghz without using 1.8v and i wasnt happy with that..
phill9700
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
how did you manage to get the fsb so high on that abit board? mine wouldnt even manage 200 properly without going nuts... any ideas?
have you tried lowering the multiplyer while using higher FSB>?
phill9700
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
yeah and the simple thing that does is crash out the system, as does anything when i try and go above 2.3ghz.. althought ironically the darn thing worked at 208 x 11 (if not 208 x 11.5) but now its not working anyway, the board is busted!! im considering to changing my memory.. im fed up with it not overclocking much..
everyone else is getting such higher fsb's etc with the same sort of setup, but me.. im so jealous!!
i think for you.. you need to first determin what's the highest FSB for you. if your max speed at this moment is 2.3ghz. try lower the multiplyer by a lot and upp the fsb ie. 10x210. or 9.5x215 lowering the speed and upping the fsb is the only way to determin your max fsb for your mobo. and make sure you upp the VDD voltage on your N7f-s too.

my A7N8X rev1.04 only can go up to 199fsb (due to insufficient VDD voltage) so don't feel too alone out there. only a few people here have their rig set at 200 or higher and it's because they either have newer rev of nforce2 board or the VDD mod.
phill9700
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
well i managed to get the memory up to about 208 fsb, but when it worked, it only managed to get to 206 reably.. which was rather confusing because it wont even boot up at 208fsb... its all confusing to me..
well because my nf7-s and my 8rda+ boards are pants and arent working at all, they are going back (well the epox board has already gone back as i took it back when i went to get the nf7-s and the nf7-s not reading temperatures at all) but overclocking on the abit board was a nightmare.. at standard voltage and with one of the other cpus i have here (i think it was JIUCB i put in) that went straight to 2ghz with no hassle at all.. then i noticed the temp on the hardware monitor i use and it was at 50C.. i touched the heatsink and there was no way it was at 50C.. the highest i ever had the epox board with one of theses cpus in it was 42 at idle and that was with a 1.75v thing for the cpu.. its most confusing and annoying.. im getting rather annoyed at it all to be honest
i have tried booting up with a 180 fsb @ 11 multiplier worked fine then tried a 190fsb @ 12 and the darn thing bombed out on me.. i wasnt impressed as it would just about work at 11.5 x 200... i tried upping the voltage all the way (1.850v for the cpu and 2.9v for the memory) and still no joy.. it just dont want to know..
my epox board was rev 1.1 and my nf7-s was rev 2.. the two boards that everyone was raving on about with how good the fsb's are, how high they managed to put up the mhz... and theres me, struggling to do anything more than 2.2...
im just simply frustrated....
i dont think there's any need for being upset or frustration. 2.2 is a good mark especially for a none JIUHB. you should be thanking it for the score that it gives you consider it's not exactly a JIUHB. even so, most of the JIUHBs overclock range from 2.2 - 2.3. only a few goes to 2.4. your score should consider to be very good in a nother words. overclock often times has a lot to do with luck also. my score might look kinda nice now but it took me 3 tries to get here. my previous JIUHB could only do 2.3 and this JIUHB does 2.4. even with the exact same stepping, batch code date and everything your score can still vary. it all depends on how pure the wafer was when they produced it.

i think you should be greatful for what you got and have fun!!
phill9700
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
im happy that i managed to get over the 2.2ghz mark, i just wish for something higher.. im told more fsb is better by colin, but i do often wonder how if the amd systems dont or cant use anything past (say for arguement) 180 or what have you.. know what i mean?
i was hoping for a stable 2.3ghz, or a 1ghz overclock, that would have been nice.. it might have helped me towards my goal of 18000 3dmarks!!! (2001se anyway.. i dont get that far away from 6000 in 3dmark 03, surprised on that one...)
i do wonder what the JIUCB stepping will do, at the moment the best i have had it was at 2ghz with stock voltage, but i think that most of these DLT3C cpus are doing that anyways.. im happy with it.. i just hope the next board or two i have, will be better than the last two.. im feeling very unenthusiastic about having two more boards... which do you prefer. abit nf7-s rev 2 or the epox board 8rda+.. rev 1.1 mine was.. do they have a newer one?
anyway, thanks for the vote of confidence.. cheered me up a little
