Some sites well "window kits" that come with a template and a precut piece of plexi. Once you've traced the template on the panel, from my recent experience with modding my chieftech I would use a dremel with the metal cutting bit (looks kind of like a drill bit) as the panel is a flat surface. Pimpin' Joe is probably the resident expert in case modding though. I think I've heard of people using a jigsaw with a special metal cutting blade too.
Actually, now that I think about it, the easiest way to put a window on your case (what is the case brand/style BTW?) would be to contact the manufacturer and see if they sell premodified panels. No work at all for that.

Yeah, I'm still impressed with that case-mod you did earlier.

I put my window in using a dremel. Since I have a Cooler Master 201C case, I've only worked with aluminum, but it was relatively straightforward and easy procedure. Just cut the hole, put the plexiglass window in using the supplied molding, and voila! Don't forget to put a nice window etch design on the glass, lol!!!

damn, i can go cheaper than all your ways. Buy some plexxy glass and get it cut/cut it yourself (make some measurements of the side of your case) so that you can just drill the plexxy glass into the side of the case. Itll just costs a few bucks for the sheet of plexxy glass.

LOL, Poly, that will work if you can trust yourself enough not to overtighten the screws (CRAAACK!) and you don't mind the look of them.

LOL. Cloggs, that's what the "Edit" button on the lower right hand corner of your post is for.
Many sites sell a window "molding" kit that has a rubber surround that holds the metal in one groove, the window in another and then you place a sticky strip in after the window to keep it from falling out. Here's just an example of what you can find on Google using "window kits" & "computer". Some of these places will sell just the molding or plexi as well.

i would think the easiest way to make a cheap window would be a jig saw, masking tape, and some plastic wrap

i think i'm gonna go a little more sophisticated than that

i have a band saw and a dremel and a jigsaw to cut the hole (dunno which one i'm gonna use yet) and then i'm just gonna place the window behind the hole and screw it in

it may not look AS good as a bought one, but it is cheaper

GNX, I think the operative word was "easy" there. A shotgun and some plastic wrap would be "easier" though. Heck, just wrap the Saran Wrap around twice and you don't even need the masking tape. LOL!

well i started the window today, i cut the hole, sanded it all down and primed it up for painting

the case will be blue soon enough

and i've got the plexi glass and now all i need is some bolts and some molding to make it look pretty

TranceJunkieXL
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
So why are you bolting it on instead of using window molding?
