View Full Version : 1700+@2.42GHZ *56K warning*
hey guys!...check out my latest OC results.

so far i've determined my max to be 2.42ghz with stability. one more fsb higher the system crahes no matter how much more vcore i give it. it seems this chip shows no effects after 1.8vcore. oh well... i can settle for 2.42 right now . currently it is running under 12x200=2400. i can use 12.5x193 which will give me about 2.42 but i like running 200 fsb better and since there's no 201fsb option in the bios and 202 will give me 2.43 which is out of my max stability range, so i'll just have to settle for 12x400 for now

here're some of the benchmark results. the score is ran with 2.4ghz

this is ran with a G4Ti4600, i believe i can achieve a much higher score with the current setup if i had a 97pro. possibly break 20k

i am so far happy with the results as this is almost a ghz overclock

PS all stable CPU frequency result has passed Prime95's torture test
Nice job BAM! The best I was able to achieve before the BIOS mess was the same 12x by 200FSB. I was trying to get a higher FSB with lower multiplier and still achieve a higher GHz, but wasn't able to beat 2.400 before the crash(stable running Prime95 - great way to check it too!).
Strange thing is, at that clock I was able to score:
7331 CPU
5983 RAM
1097 HDD

PCMark2002. Strange.....

That's an awsome speed BAM. What are your case ambient temps. Just asking because I know the CoolerMaster you use has no air intakes.
yeah i don't know why rithem. tho couple times i was able to hit 7300 points with CPU test. tho the memory stays around 5800. i am using 2-2-2-5 timing too.

shiz, my case tem is about 25C and at silent mode my CPU fulload temp is around 53C +/- 1C fulload. however at fullblast i am able to cool it down to 47C +/-1C. my offload temp is exactly 4 degrees lower than whatever the fulload temp is. and replaced my case fans with smartfansII. so overal it's not bad.

this chip does run a few degrees hotter than my previous JIUHB chip which ran at 2.3ghz 1.85vcore.
this one is about 3-4 degrees hotter and is only at 1.8vcore. again. this chip can't go any higher than 2.43 no matter how much higher i upp the vcore.

47C does seem rather high. Maybe that is your limiting factor, expecially since it's not the VCore.
new update ! actually should be face. it turns out that this revision of A7N8X motherboard will only carry me up to 199fsb. the 12x200 combination is no longer stable. i've ran several stability tests last night till 5 in the morning and came up with a conclusion that in order to go higher than 199, i need more VDD voltage. thus it's not possible to run it completely stable without a VDD mod. therefore, i am back to 12.5x193 right now .. which is not bad .. gives me 2.42Ghz in stead of the 12x300=2.4ghz. the CPU score is now slightly higher however at the same time the memory score is of course a couple points lower due to the slightly lower fsb.

<< 12x300=2.4ghz >>

isn't that 3.6GHz?!! No wonder you weren't stable! LMAO! J/K, you meant 12x200FSB, right? Mine at that clock ran about 45.5C after running Prime95 for a couple hours, but I was running her with the MCX462+/Tornado combination (I don't think 47C is unusual for that OC). Strange that the CPU score would jump around that much.
Oh yeah, my GEIL timings are actually 2 3 3 6 to get the scores I posted. Try relaxing the timings on your Corsair(?) a little and see what that does for you.
I would like to know more about that VDD mod and how it works, as well as how much more likely it would be to fry the CPU.
oops.. my bad.. i meant 12x200fsb .... hehe... good looking out. . i don't plan on doing the VDD mod.. since it's quite an amount of work not to mention it'll heat up the NB like a fireball which means i am gonna have to peal off the default NB heatsink and put on NB HSF that probably won't fit. i better off just get a new mobo. but i won't get to that till another couple months at least. i am happy with my current setup now.

Nice OC Bam. I need faster ram if I'm to go higher then I am now for the time being all I need is a 9700 or fx5900 and I'll be set for a while.

-Will
upon some tweaking, some new benches on Sandra's CPU, multimedia, and memory
