View Full Version : How hot is TOO HOT?????
I have the athlon XP 2100 AIUHB.
I managed to get it to 166 fbs 13 mult = 2171.57 mhz (XP 2700) on default voltage
But the problem is my normal temps are 46-47 C and my full-load temps are 50-51 C

Should I keep on going or should I just stop?

They do seem a bit higher than normal, but not dangerous. I would recommend better cooling to keep it below 50C for the long run though. Don't worry until you hit 60C for longer periods of time. At stock voltage? If you increase the voltage to increase stability at higher FSB, then you can expect your temps to rise even more. My 1700+ is on 1.85v and the hottest it got at load was 45.5C.
well my heatsink isnt really the best for o'clocking. and i just realized stock voltage is unstable
I have to run 2.5 lol j/k im running 1.7 volts
Im thinking of getting a better h/s anyways. what would u reccomend (I think slk-800 doesnt fit on ep-8RDA)

does it have the mounting holes for the MCX462+? that would be my next suggestion....
It has 4 mounting holes.......
nvm. my cpu is fast enough (If you look in my sig u will notice I lowered multiplier, i dont need anything faster) I much rather put my $$$$ towards a Blue Orb for my RADEON cuz anything higher than 255 and a bunch of artifacts show up. Also the orb is a lot cheaper and since im a gamer i need a faster vid card (all my games allready load in less than a second so my cpu is fast enough, unless they are loading a save file from hdd, stupid slow-a$$ HDD *kicks hdd*)
I really need a h/s for my ram (vid card) tho, cuz i can make core go higher but i like to keep things sync'ed so i will get h/s for both
My vid card doesnt have mounting holes so the current heatsink is glued on. Is it damgerous to remove it?

The HS on my 9700Pro just popped right off with the slightest pressure (after popping off the mounting clips it was still pretty well stuck). Just using my fingers to pry with. You will want to use acetone (nail polish remover) and then rubbing alcohol to clean off the GPU though as the TIMM ATI uses is rather gummy.
OK thanks i guess i dont hafta worry about ripping off the gpu
Also does anyone knoe where i can get vid card coolers cuz new egg doesnt have a large selection especially the memory coolers
