i have two more of those lovely xp1700s but i havent got one of the JIUHB's..
on the two cpus i have the following marks...

CPU 1

AXDA1700DLT3C XXXXXXX270358
JIUCB0312RPMW

CPU 2

AXDA1700DLT3C XXXXXXX270356
JIUCB0312RPMW

Now i have had out of the two cpus so far 2.ghz, but anything further seems to give me problems.. but then saying that, my epox board started to go wrong and now my abit board is telling me i have a temp of -48C because the probe under the cpu is broke.. plus when it wasnt broke at 1.5v @ 2ghz it was telling me it was at 50C... something was definitly wrong, because on the epox board it never went above 30C with the same settings and voltage.. im simply not happy with either or the two boards at the moment.. and most people seem to be getting better overclocks with the same hardware as im using and its really annoying!! what am i doing wrong?!
the difference between JIUCB and JIUHB are BIG!!!!.... even it's just one letter difference the performance can be a big margin. since they're no longer the same family stepping.

so am i lucky or am i not? is the JIUCB's better cpus for overclocking or are the JIUHB's???
so what am i going to be getting??? anything much more or a lot less or something even more???? please help me!!!
JIUHBs are known for good overclocking scores... tho never heard anything about JIUCB... so i would assume JIUCB is not at the same level. next time when you shop for CPUs make sure you match up the exact stepping and if possible batch codes and dates. don't just buy something sounds like it.!

don't mean to bust your ballz philll!! .... but you should've asked around people where they got their stuff from. i tend to stick with the stores that i've had success with. currently newegg sells their 1700+ t-bred as JIUHB, so does excaliberpc, and gameve.

youre not busting my ballz!! i think someone in this forum has it in for me tho..
anyway, it does state on my invoice of where i bought the goods from that they should have been JIUHB DLT3C, so i might ask about it when they phone or when i might have to jog their memory..
sadly tho, i dont live in canada or us, i live in england, so its harder to find certain places with very particular things.. but this company has had a great deal of support and i think they are sound as people, so hopefully, i shouldnt have any problems with returning anything.. if so, i will just ask for a replacement epox board, send back the nf7-s and the other 2 cpus and ask for a complete refund.. never to return again.. it wont bother me that much!!
like i said when i give the link in my last post, it is mentioned on the website what cpus you should be recieving...

Well, if your invoice stated you purchased JIUHB and they sent you JIUCB, I would call them up and bust their ballz. Their product did not meet the claimed specifications, so that seems a little fraudulent or negligent on their case. let them know that others "in the know" feel they have falsely advertised if they sent you those CPUs on purpose and are not willing to replace them with the JIUHB.

well whilst i dont feel like busting their ballz i will just say to them that they havent sent me the correct cpus anyway, but with the abit board i have sent an email on saturday so i might phone them up to tell them i have had more problems and to just let me know whats happening with the epox board that they have of mine and then when they send that back to me, i will send them back the abit board and the two cpus to get replaced...
i feel its just as easy.. but im expecting a phone call from them anyway to be honest about the abit board... failing that if i dont hear anything by midday or something, i will phone them.. either way, i will get what i paid for!!
oh and is the later the date the better the chance the higher the overclock?
the key word here is REVISION. built later date doesn't mean it's guarenteed later revision. but basically the idea is the later the revision number is, the higher the chance it might help you overclock. however, it is still not guarenteed. by having a 2.0 rev board doesn't always mean you can overclock your current processor faster. every processor has its limit. if your current processor for example is 2.26 no matter how high you increase the VDD voltage or how much better revision the board is... chances are you're still not gonna go any higher than 2.26. the only time a later REV board can let you overclock higher is when your CPU is limited by some minor factor such as the insufficiency of the VDD voltage. hope this helps.

it does help, i think its just common sense, but i still want more from these cpus!!!
its just so frustrating that my mate has got just one cpu and its managing 2.3ghz @ 1.65v easy.. so frustrating you wouldnt believe!! im wanting a higher clock speed for SPEED !!!
i need more speed. well firstly i need a motherboard thats going to work on me for more than a month... that would be a start!!
what exactly is the chip your mate got !!!

Damn. For that kind of OC I had to up the voltage to 1.80. How on earth did he get it there at only 1.64v?
Also, the term revision means that they actually re-engineered the original design. On the Abit NF7-S on thing they added were HSF mounting holes, which probably meant they had to redirect the electrical pathways to go around those places. Most of the time revisions are made to improve the functionality with the same components (chipset, RAID, etc). Now when they change the chipset you get a whole new board name, even if the other features are similar.

i have no idea, but hes using an asus board, which seems to be good at overclocking.. maybe i should ask him for you..
he bought it from where i get mine, hes just lucky i guess cpu city and its the one second from the bottom. im not sure whether or not they will delievery to canada, US etc..
well im annoyed as i couldnt quite get my cpus to manage to do 2.3ghz at a push.. annoying or what?

Most likely that was due to the JIUCB stepping. Good luck on your RMA phill.

well its just so frustrating when you want to hit a score or you want to be able to break a record for yourself and you just cant quite get there..
how come your 2.4ghz cpu is now fried? what happened?
well i should be getting the board back within a few days, i will keep you guys posted thanks rithemking
Yeah, I can totally understand that frustration. I can't even get my SOYO to post after raising the FSB from 166 to 167. Lame.....
Not sure what happened exactly. I had a Zalman on the SB so I raised the chipset voltage one step (I think the BIOS had 4 more that I could take it). After 8 minutes all kinds of warnings started flashing on the hardware monitor. Then it wouldn't boot anymore with the 1700+, and it only booted 3 more times with my 2800+(stock with nothing OC) with the hardware monitor going nuts again after less than 10 minutes. I even changed the PSU thinking that might be the problem, so now I'm waiting for an RMA number from excaliber.
i think you got one of those so called "BIOS corruptions" that a lot of people been having with that board. it's an known issue and i think it has been addressed in the latest edition of boards.(hopefuly).

If that was the case, then the 1700+ should have booted in my SOYO and the 2800+ should have been bootable with the replacement BIOS I had on hand (didn't work). I think the problem lies a little deeper than the BIOS at this point.
i didn't know your 1700+ didn't boot on your soyo. that really sucks!... so that means you fried your CPU!! sorry dude... you have my condonence!
