My kids pc (which I am using due to mobo failure) is a AMD266K6 chipped Soyo 5EAS motherboard.

The question is:- just flashed the bios and it now supports chips upto 366mhz and also multipliers of 4.5, 5 & 5.5 whereas before it stopped at 266 and 4.
I have the multiplier at 4x66 =264 mhz.
Cant get it to boot if i move the multiplier at all,.. any suggestions?
Another new addition to the jumper settings is that i can now move the cpu frequency from a max of 66mhz to 75 mhz.
But once again wont boot.

I have 64meg of, i dont know what, RAM.

Realise that this is a waste of time , yada yada,, but my real pc broke and what have i to do?

Up shot being is that the kids like playing some games on this pc that run real slow, so if the pc was quicker, then i may be able to placate them. Hey i am using their pc after all.
Smiles

does it not boot whether you move it up or down? or just down?

and are there any beep codes when it is trying to boot?

It seams to run ok at 166 and i think i had it at 196 but wont go over 266(well 264 actually).
No beep codes, just black screen no noise at all. Must be a locked chip maybe?
And i add that it is a hassle to move the jumpers, no wonder its done in the bios nowadays.
I can change the ram settings in the bios from 60ns, 70ns, auto, normal, fast and turbo. All seem to work ok, but i have noticed a bit of artifacting only on the shut down screen, just before it says it is safe to turn off your pc.

Might just give it a miss unless you have any ideas?
