Okay, what kind of an OC can one expect with a 9700Pro? Strange thing is, I had mine over 395/380 without registering artifacts on artifact tester, but when I tried to run 3DMark2001SE? Forget about it. I couldn't see the picture there were so many artifacts. Something is wrong with artifact tester. Any ideas why, or is there another piece of software that will reliably test for artifacts? I want to know what a reliable OC is for this card.
i would say 380 will probabaly be the max you're expecting out of that card for core speed. the memory really depends, you just have to test it out. usually when you see artifact it's memory overclock related. it happens when there's insufficient or in accurate texture transmittion from/to the video memory. so lowering the video memory overclock will fix artifact problem. usually when you see video freezes or slow down what's due to the core overclock.

The only sure way to test for artifacts is to run games like UT 2003 or programs like 3D Mark2K1 or 3D Mark03.

Thanks guys. I just installed Win2000Pro and the latest ATI driver (3.4?). For some reason the 3DMark2001SE would freeze and not do a thing, so I uninstalled all the drivers, updated to DirectX9.0a and then reinstalled the ATI drivers from the Catalyst disk. Rund fine now. Stock scoring was 14481, which is almost the best I have gotten out of this setup yet. Running with just the core OC to 355 now. 3DMark crashed so I upped the voltage a little and it is running fine now.
15164!! WOW! and only a small OC on the core. More benches to follow. Gotta reread Colin's tweak tips too. Man, if only I had my NF7-S back.

LOL. Okay, she topped out at 15622 last night. I think the timings were 385/325. If I raised the RAM my score dropped back to 15200. Anyone have ideas on what I could do to top this?

15935 has been the highest so far. The VC has been OC to 389.25-GPU 337.5-RAM. Now I know how Phill9700 was feeling. 16K at the tip of my fingers and I can't figure out how to squeeze out another 65 points.....
