Hello All,

I recently purchased a new computer on my own and subsequently put it together. I have an afi ad77 infinity motherboard with an athlon xp 2200 . After all was built fine I noticed that my cpu is only operating at 1.3 Ghz, when it should be at 1.8 Ghz. Now I know I need to make some changes within the Bios, which is Phoenix Awardbios, but I dont know exactly where. I know the FSB setting has to change and I can see it on a portion of the bios menu, it is stuck at 100 and I cannot change it . Someone out there, do you know how I am to go about setting my CPU speed to the correct 1.8 Ghz? Ive been trying for two days now and I am stuck!!!

Thanks!!

Israel

When all else fails, check the manual.

its usauly a jumper on the mother board, that should change that, like DeanLowe said, check the manual.

Man, I'm so glad for jumper-free BIOS mobos. I haven't had to deal with jumper settings since my Intel PIII days, and there's no way I'd go back!!!

Most boards still need you to set the main FSB speed by a jumper on the board. I too and glad those days are coming to an end. Now I want to be able to access my BIOS from windows and make changes there and have them take affect immediately. That would make overclock a much faster process

Welcome to pcstats icalderus.
Sorry, I cannot find any information on your motherboard via Google. When you say the FSB is "stuck" in the BIOS, do you mean that you cannot change it or get to the row that will allow you to? It's possible that you may need to enable this feature by choosing a "manual" option elsewhere in the BIOS to be able to change the FSB. Otherwise all I can tell you is to check the manual since I cannot find anything else on the web.
