It's because the GeForce 3 Ti cards are DirectX 8.1 compliant, i.e. They have hardware support for pixel shaders. nVidia made a big mistake by having the GeForce MX cards only DX7 compliant. They removed the pixel shaders from them, for what reason I don't know.

Here it is. I just ran it, without defragging the HDD or restarting.

PC Mark score

I'll run 3DMark2001SE in a minute, but I know the score won't be pretty.

Not good at all. I think it was around 4k or 5k. Then I oc'ed my VC to 300/400, and my score went up a bit, not much.

It's all cause of my stupid VC. It won't do Game 4, or any of the Pixel Shader stuff. My score would be better if I could.
for PCMark i get this:
CPU: 6203
MEMORY: 4901
HDD: 626

i'm downloading 3DMark 2002 SE to see what i get there. are these decent scores with my setup?
got a 4881 for a score on 3DMark 2001 SE. i heard that the geforce 3ti versions are allot better than the geforce 4 mx cards. why is that? i would think that the geforce 4 across the board being the next line would be better.

Hey omga14,

<< for PCMark i get this:

CPU: 6203
MEMORY: 4901
HDD: 626 >>

Are those the PCMark scores you get for the current setup you have listed in your sig? Or are these scores from a previous setup you had?
may be previous. i'll do another and let you know what i get.
just did the pcmark and this is what i got with the current setup.

cpu7006
mem4983
hdd1202

is this bad and if so any ideas on how i can up these scores?
don't even ask about a 3dmark score with my current card.

Not bad scores at all. you might improve the memory scores a little though. Try lowering your timings a bit. Maybe even raising that FSB and lowering the multiplier would help as well.
Nice HDD score. I haven't gotten mine over 1200 before.
thanks. looking to pick up another stick of the corsair same model and size sometime soon. i saw it at newegg.com for $105. i think the score for the hdd is partly due to the 8mb cache it has. what do you think.

I got over 1200 without an 8 MB cache, well, 1215 to be exact.

Windows has been a real b*tch lately, so I decided to re-install today. I backed up my stuff, fdisked my HDD, and installed XP Pro again. I created a 3 GB partition to hold Windows, and the rest of my 40 GB I partitioned for the rest of my stuff. I just ran PC Mark and my HDD score PLUMMETED to 459, which is WAAAAAAAY down from 1215. Is this from the multiple partitions? It may also be that the small partition is FAT32 and the big one is NTFS. Is that possible?

I just ran 3DMark2001 and I got a 6907. That's with the setup in my sig, except the VC was OC'ed to 315/415.
