Odd things all of a sudden

My kids pc:-amd266 k6, 64meg ram, trio s3 2meg 2d vid card jumpered with voodoo2 12meg 3d, seagate 4gig hdd, win98se, 32speed cd rom.<BR><BR>Playing a game called Lands of Lore by Westwood, all has been ok for months, then when changing from one cd to another during normal gameplay, an error message comes up stating that there is not enough memory and the game ends.<BR>I have lots of hdd space and all the virtual mem settings at default. The pc is not connected to internet.<BR>I have selective startup using msconfig and all that is running is systray and explorer.<BR><BR>Why why ??<BR><BR>No logic here...

Have you run memtest on the RAM? You may have a stick that is going bad.<BR>You can also get a trial version of MemTurbo which might show that large amounts of RAM are not being freed up by closed programs. I've purchased a copy and it works wonders with Win9X and WinME.
