View Full Version : what shud i expect
I want to take my pc to the next step (i.e OC it past 2.0ghz) but i dont know what to expect in terms of heat (using the vantec aeroflow sink/fan)...i know its not the best but it does the work of keeping my cpu just under 40'c (it seems hot but its not, temps here never go below 30'c). currently using only a single 12cm fan located in the rear side of the case but im planning to get one more fro the front, one to be placed just over the cpu/vid card (left side of case) and another one on top to suck the hot air out (all generic 12cm fans). can i reach 200fsb (keeping the 13 multiplier on the 2100+) w/o having to worry about additional heat? (using a midi atx case)

Cool temps are critical to overclocking, and all the extra fans will definitely help keep the temp down. However, I don't think you can get 13 x 200 out of that 2100+ AIUHB. I also have a 2100+ AIUHB 0301, and the best I could get out of it was 2.24 GHz (11 x 204), and it wasn't perfectly stable at that speed. I usually kept it at 2.2 (11 x 200). I think GNXtreme got his 2100+ to 2.37 GHz, but that is the highest oc for a 2100+ AIUHB I've seen on air cooling. Some people have gotten some incredible oc's using water cooling, however. From what I hear from other people here, the aeroflow is a good hsf, so you should be able to oc with confidence. Your epox board and ram should also let you go past 200 MHz FSB. I would kick down the multiplier to 10 or 11 and see how high you can get, and then tone it down a little so it becomes stable.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!!!

Maybe it's time to step up the surge protection. Try a Belkin UPS. It comes with a $500,000 connected equipment warranty.
